*Official* - Pakistan in New Zealand 2010/2011

He's only playing for experience though. No one is suggesting he should become a permanent fixture in the test first eleven. Stop creating straw men.

Nobody cares about this series much beyond experimenting with fringe/new players, not Pakistan, not NZ. I have no issues with the selectors trying out Milne, Woodcock and Brownlie.
If he's just playing for experience then why is he in the extended world cup squad? Playing in T20 for experience is ****ing pointless anyway. All that's going to happen is you'll get slogged, and you might pick up a couple of lucky wickets. Completely useless for developing any bowler's game. Milne is so young and inexperienced, he shouldn't be experimented with yet. He should be learning how to actually bowl, and he'll never do that if he's thrust into intl cricket too early.

I'm not super pissed that Milne is playing or anything, but it rather begs the question- why is he a fringe/new player? He has no business being near the squad, really.
That's why.

Who takes 20/20 seriously enough to care whether the cap was deserved or not? I actually rate domestic 20/20>>>>>>>>>>in importance than the international stuff (thanks to the CL, which is a gun idea). Maybe that's just me.

Kid belongs in domestic cricket. He's not ready for this yet, and the more people obsess about how fast he's bowled, the more they'll be likely they'll forget how badly he played and pick him to serve as more cannon fodder.
Totally agree. Needs a few seasons of FC cricket under his belt.

18 year old in needs more experience shocker ;)

Yes he did. And for the Milne fans out there, at least you can cling on to the fact that as badly as he bowled, he still bowled far better than Southee did.
Ah, if only Nathan McCullum wasn't such a dope eh.

****ed if I know, ask the selectors. I'm not defending that.

And Milne being in the Black Cap camp is an awesome opportunity for him imo. I think being around an elite environment is underrated.

And these games will give him an idea of the gap between NZ domestic and international cricket, so he knows how hard he needs to work to get to this level.

I still don't see the logic in developing a player who has done nothing to deserve being "developed".

It's all based around imo fallacious logic that being 18 and fast is closely related to being a future international cricketer. It makes about as much sense as saying that an 18 year old long driving champ on a 12 handicap deserves to make an NZ rep golf team for the experience.

I don't think the current environment will serve him any better than the CD bowling camp with Shane Bond as the coach. And if all he learns from this experience is that international cricket is a higher level than domestic cricket, then it sounds like a grand waste of time to me.
