I'd rather be around the Black Caps than my provincial side tbh. Would be awesome.I don't think the current environment will serve him any better than the CD bowling camp with Shane Bond as the coach. And if all he learns from this experience is that international cricket is a higher level than domestic cricket, then it sounds like a grand waste of time to me.
Why? At least CD manage to win something besides the occasional inconsequential T20.I'd rather be around the Black Caps than my provincial side tbh. Would be awesome.
And it's not like he's not going back to Bondy in the morning.
Looking like the NZ collapse is coming. Let's get it over now in the 20/20s.
Looks like your dad's about to be correct with his prediction.I'd rather be around the Black Caps than my provincial side tbh. Would be awesome.

true, although tbf Ryder's domestic record indicates he is just bad at limited overs cricketIt continues to amaze me that despite performing far better in Test cricket than limited overs cricket despite having all the attributes to do well in both, no-one ever questions the fact that Ryder actually bats out of position in every limited overs game he plays.
I could understand opening with him if it actually worked, but I think it's clearly having a negative impact on his performances.
He opened in domestic one day cricket a fair bit too, though.true, although tbf Ryder's domestic record indicates he is just bad at limited overs cricket
To be fair, Ryder had done very well opening for Wellington this season. It continues to amaze me that despite performing far better in Test cricket than limited overs cricket despite having all the attributes to do well in both, no-one ever questions the fact that Ryder actually bats out of position in every limited overs game he plays.

He's been given a taste of higher honours so theoretically it should make him work harder to get back in a season or two. Just be thankful that he didn't bowl well or he would be in the ODI and test team shortly where he would have taken his failures more personally - at least this way he can brush it off as a slug fest that went wrong.I don't think the current environment will serve him any better than the CD bowling camp with Shane Bond as the coach. I'm not sure how many List A games he's spent opening, but I would like to give him a crack at three and revoke his lisence to go for it. He ticks along at a very good strike rate in tests so he *should* be able to bat 'properly' in ODIs and still be all right. It continues to amaze me that despite performing far better in Test cricket than limited overs cricket despite having all the attributes to do well in both, no-one ever questions the fact that Ryder actually bats out of position in every limited overs game he plays.
