I think he's promising to the extent that an 18 year old who can bowl 150kph is pretty much unheard of in NZ.

Ultimately though atm all we know is that he's certainly capable of bowling crap, and he's good at something that's maybe peripherally related to being successful. Not quite anything to write home about.

Southee's such a fantastic death bowler these days, it's incredible how quickly he's improved in a short period of time.

Mark Richardson is just soooo bad it estimating whether someone has managed to clear the boundary or not. Really funny.
Agree, Richardson's like Marc Ellis for me in that when I first saw him on TV, I thought he was quirky & refreshing, whereas now I just find him painful & predictable.

I'd say pace is far more than peripherally related to success. On it's own, it is worthless though.

Awful from Southee and Afridi in nearly equal measure there. I hate how Doull and Richardson are falling over themselves to talk about how great a death bowler tim Southee is, when all he really did was bowl a sequence of knee high full tosses that should've been smashed.

.
See, I'm actually 100% with Simon Doull on this. Concentrate on raw pace first, then work on the other subtleties. Same for young spinners, learn how to spin the ball first.
