There's no way that either of those two should be getting a start. I'm sorry but you need more than 2 or 3 matches to earn a callup. Even Southee had a solid season and a half behind him when he was called up.

I forgot that McCullum and Vettori won't be playing for the T20's. Maybe: Nicol, Ryder, Guptill, Taylor, Styris, Franklin, McGlashan, NcCullum, Southee, Mills, Sherlock.
I didn't say they should, I just predicted who the bolters would be.

Trent Boult has played a fair few games now ftr.

Nicol is a certainty. Sherlock has been bowling pretty well (i still think he will get spanked).

Yeah, but they've been spread over 3 or 4 seasons. He's never managed anything close to a full season for ND, which is what you'd ideally want before selecting him for the test side.

Sherlock bowls well with the new ball, his death bowling isn't great so if he's selected then he needs to be used properly - which is with the new ball. He has all the tools to be a good death bowler, just needs to practice his yorkers.

His first season he did, the only thing that stopped him doing so was getting selected for that Australian tour which cost him two or three first class games iirc at the end of the season.

Regardless of why he missed playing for ND, he still only played in 3 games out of 8 (god I'm glad they've restored the FC season to 10 matches), hardly a sustained run in FC cricket. If he manages to string together a full season for ND this year, he could come into the reckoning for the test side next summer. Although he'll have to outperform the likes of Wheeler and Wagner first.

Yes Bahnz, but you have to remember the selectors often think differently to you.:p

After all the hype, I really don't think Sherlock looks that quick. He wouldn't be 140+ would he?

There's always the possiblity that his relatively relaxed run-up makes him look slower than he is, but I doubt it. Doesn't really look like he hurries batsmen up, like the quickest bowlers in the comp have either. Reckon he's around Butler's pace, mid to high 130's, maybe pushing 140 with the effort ball. Years of injury have apparently taken their toll.

No way he is 140+ he looks about Chris Martin's pace tbh 135-139 maybe can get it to 140 occasionally. Milne looks the fastest bowler in NZ atm apart from the overseas imports.

What about milne? Does he still bowl in the mid 140's?

There is no speeds in the HRV cup shown but he was clocked at the champions trophy thing at 146km and he looks fast in all the games i have watched. Definitely 140+ consistently with the odd ball 145 i would guess. He is pretty skinny so Bond thinks that he could get a bit quicker as well (He is only like 18-19). He was hurrying Brad Hodge up though if that proves anything.

Thats a pretty fair assessment - I doubt he'd be bowling too many, if any, deliveries in the 140s in the HRV Cup. Milne on the other hand has looked to have genuine speed in the low-mid 140s with deliveries which have rushed onto batsmen, whereas Sherlock's been brisk without rushing the batsmen to the same extent.
