*Official* - Pakistan in New Zealand 2010/2011

Flem274*

123/5
If it's just to have a look at them and give them a taste I don't mind.

But if they're looking to throw Milne in full time then I'll disagree, and so will his coaches going on what Bond and Hamilton have been saying.

Sherlock has been bowling better though, but I guess the selectors don't want another Bond when it comes to injuries.

Oh yeah we were rubbish, but I remember someone on here mentioning we fluked something in Pakistan around 96.

Was probably fluking making 200.
It wasn't a series win. You're probably thinking of the last match of the 93/94 series, when we managed to chase down about 280 in the last innings thanks to a couple of centuries from Brian Young and Shane Thompson. Pakistan had already taken a 2-0 lead, and there have been quite a few (probably bull****) whispers since suggesting that the result might not have been particularly legit.

Meh we need Kaneria instead of Rehman. Or both, shame Tanvir is injured. No Akhtar no Amir no Asif no Tanvir... Khurram seems a good call, maybe Nazir for a shot? I don't know, I wanna see what PCB does...

New Zealand... I have never been able to pinpoint where exactly we were in international cricket but if this series is a goodun for us then I reckon we're up there at 5/6.

If Pakistan had a fully fit/Non illegal players. Then you could contest the top 3 spots in test matches .

1.Taufeeq
2.Hafeez
3.Khan (c)
4.Alam
5.Misbah
6.U.Akmal
7.Shafiq
8.A.Ukmal+
9.Gul
10.Riaz
11.Rehman

I think that team would trouble New Zealand. I am surprised there is no M.Yousuf in the squad but i guess he is getting on a bit. If they had Amir, Asif and Yousuf they could beat any team in the world barring South Africa.
Hafiz
Toufiq
YK
Yousuf
Misbah
Shafiq
Alam
Umar Akmal (would use him as keeper)
Amir
Gul
Asif

Put these dudes at Centurion and lets see who scores more against each other. They can beat SAF.

I don't see the point in picking a batsman who keeps a bit if you're going to bat the guy at eight. If the keeper is going to bat that low in the team he should be a specialist gloveman.

I was contemplating whether Kamran Akmal as an alternate would be a good choice...which i think is not for tests...but another good choice could be ZQ. or Sarfraz Ahmed...just realized Amir can bat too at number 9...so that would be a very decent unit and imo can challenge SA on a moving wicket and so can on a flat one.

Oh yea of course this is all wishful thinking....but still thinking.

Well Kamran isn't a specialist gloveman either. Neither is Adnan from what I've seen. Haider looked okay.

Who does Sarfraz Ahmed have to marry to get a game?
No one, he is just from Karachi...and not on the right side of the PCB like many...but he is probably the best keeper out of all the ones they have tried so far...best choice imo for Tests.

Plunders runs domestically too even if he has a bit of a dodgy technique. Moooore than qualified to bat seven or eight at Test level if he's a good gloveman, which from all reports he is.

Tell me about it.. I like many others just don't have words to describe how **** this pcb management has been and refuses to leave.....

However, once the government changes in 3 years...lol ...Butt is not going to get away with what he is doing to players and cricket overall. People will make him accountable as the media is so strong now in Pak they will go after him..but the damage i am afraid has been done and more could be done...

From SL attacks up until the fixing controversy are the darkest days of Pak cricket all under this management....its not like there were no threats against teams visiting before SL happened. Pak security has been well in turmoil after Sept 11 and since the war began but still England visited, India visited and other teams visited without any issues..it has a lot to do with the management that this SL attack happened and then all the other things..so, i don't blame anyone but this management and the government for completely ruining our cricket

John Wright has suggested that there'll be a couple of surprises in the kiwi squad for the T20's and tests.

I'm guessing that Richard Sherlock might get a go in the T20's. He's been probably the most succesful new ball kiwi bowler in the HRV cup, and the selectors will be no doubt keen to get him under a speed radar to see how he's clocking these days. Doug Bracewell might have an outside chance as well, as might KNB.

For the test matches it's hard to really see anyone new coming in. It'll surely be more or less the same squad that toured India, with maybe Kyle Mills coming into the reckoning.

for T20s select:

1. Ryder
2. Nicol
3. Taylor (c)
4. Styris
5. Franklin
6. Noema-Barnett
7. van Wyk (wk)
8. Aldridge
9. N McCullum
10. Southee
11. Sherlock/Boult

12th: Tuffey

Need to pick guys on HRV cup form. Aldridge has been perfoming in NZ domestic for years and has had a good HRV cup so deserves a chance. Sherlock bowls fast and has been amazingly economical so he bowls 3 overs up front and 1 later on (Milne wouldn't be a bad bet either but he's still so young and needs a year in domestic). Franklin, Styris, Nicol, Ryder and Barnett give a ton of bowling options for the 5th bowler. Side also bats deep and has Barnett and Franklin as main finishers. Then good performers can be considered for the ODIs. McCullum's meant to be taking a break? So van Wyk slots in in the lower order. McGlashan wouldn't be a bad bet either. I'd like to see Young but he seems more a test player.

Surprises in tests? Hmm interesting

Nah, can see one bowling bolter in tests. Probably Boult or Wheeler.
There's no way that either of those two should be getting a start. I'm sorry but you need more than 2 or 3 matches to earn a callup. Even Southee had a solid season and a half behind him when he was called up.

I forgot that McCullum and Vettori won't be playing for the T20's. Maybe: Nicol, Ryder, Guptill, Taylor, Styris, Franklin, McGlashan, NcCullum, Southee, Mills, Sherlock.
