*Official* West Indies in Sri Lanka 2010

Lara should return. Can replace virtually anyone in the XI atm and give a boost to the side.

Every time I look at this West Indies lineup, the more annoyed I become with Sarwan being left out, Sammy being captain and Taylor being constantly injured. Seriously, this team would challenge the top five if it was managed correctly:

Gayle, Barath, Sarwan, Chanderpaul, Nash, Bravo, Baugh, Russell, Taylor, Shillingford, Roach.

I actually really rate that team in theory. Lack of depth and poor administration is hurting this team just as much if not more than it's hurting Pakistan.

Toss in Edwards in there and it does look like a fairly capable side. Would help if they had a keeper who could bat though.

Thushara looked pretty ordinary to me as do pretty much all the bowlers on display so far. Have to say that with Murali and Kumble no longer around, the quality of spin bowling in the subcontinent has dwidled considerably, resulting in tours of the subcontinent being far less challenging for touring sides.

Yeah, Edwards is injured even more than Taylor though. It'd help if they could get injured at interchangeable times and just rotate. :p

Baugh's a decent enough bat for 7 IMO (despite his current Test average) - his keeping is crap though. I suppose he doesn't qualify as a keeper who can bat given he's not really a keeper.

Great start for the Windies thus far. Batting line up really missing Sarwan though. Really looking forward to seeing how Russell travels as well

From the commentary it seems like an awfully flat surface. Really disappointing. Wickets in the Indian NZ series have been ****e and the RSA Pak game will only get a positive result courtesy of Pak not being able to bat.

Anyhow 50 for Gayle. Hopefully him smashing Sri Lanka around will make the Sri Lankan think tank realise that they need Malinga and are not good enough to go into test matches with prank seamers.

Blimey i'm surprised someone hasn't suggested i've hacked into your account or something!! , i've always said if we have our full strength team out then anything can happen, the last time we had everyone fit we beat England, so i guess that tells you something,

I'm also annoyed that Sarwan was left out but to be fair we have to start blooding some new talent now, Darren Bravo has got tons of potential but he wouldn't have a chance if Sarwan was there, i'd like to see how he gets on first, Sarwan isn't totally out of the picture so there's still a chance for him if things don't go well, i also don't believe Baugh will be around for long, Devon Thomas is in the squad and he certainly can bat and there's another kid named Jahmar Hamilton waiting in the wings who looks superb.

The start we've made today has been encouraging i must say, but i'm not getting too carried away, they will get the breakthrough soon enough and it will be a case of can we hold our nerve and continue to build? that's what i hope to see, also loving how Barath is batting today, really proud of the kid.

And on cue Barath goes.

Not convinced Darren's ready yet - he seems somewhere in between the Xavier Marshall and Adrian Barath examples. Both were hyped to the extreme but Barath came through on the back of a couple of awesome domestic seasons to justify that whereas Marshall did nothing - Darren's been pretty good in domestic cricket without really doing anything to scream "pick me in Tests". Undoubtedly a talented player but I think the team would look a lot better with Sarwan in it at the moment.

Chanderpaul should really bite the bullet and move up to 3. What other side in international cricket has their best batsman coming in as low as 5? Great opportunity for Darren Bravo mind but he seems like he is on a hiding for nothing.
