It's just the nature of cricket isn't it? still a wonderful knock from Barath and it's clear the boy has tons of ability, now hopefully Darren Bravo will step up after lunch. And on cue Barath goes.

Taylor and Ryder @ 4 and 5 for us.Chanderpaul should really bite the bullet and move up to 3. What other side in international cricket has their best batsman coming in as low as 5? Great opportunity for Darren Bravo mind but he seems like he is on a hiding for nothing.
Pakistan. Misbah is god.Chanderpaul should really bite the bullet and move up to 3. What other side in international cricket has their best batsman coming in as low as 5?
I think Chanders is coming in at four not five, the thinking behind that is as we know Barath is only young and Gayle is hot and cold so before you know it we could be 15/2 and that's when we may need Chanders to come in a steady the ship, him and Nash are so important to this team.Chanderpaul should really bite the bullet and move up to 3. NZ and India being the exception of course!Taylor and Ryder @ 4 and 5 for us.
Have Chanders at 3 and Nash at 4. Have the Bravo brothers at 5 & 6. They might enjoy coming out to bat with the Windies in a decent position.Pakistan. Misbah is god.
Seriously though I do think Chanderpaul should move up to four - three seems a bit much however.
Can't agree, he hit two or three tons for the A-team earlier this year against Bang and South Africa-A which is what caught the selectors attention, that and the fact that he reminds so many people of the great Brian Lara with his style and stroke play, of course everything is a gamble but i'd say he's got as much talent as Barath, he just needs to put the numbers up now,Not convinced Darren's ready yet - he seems somewhere in between the Xavier Marshall and Adrian Barath examples. Both were hyped to the extreme but Barath came through on the back of a couple of awesome domestic seasons to justify that whereas Marshall did nothing - Darren's been pretty good in domestic cricket without really doing anything to scream "pick me in Tests". Undoubtedly a talented player but I think the team would look a lot better with Sarwan in it at the moment.
Nash>>>>>Daniel "look at my pretty backlift" Flop.Have Chanders at 3 and Nash at 4. Have the Bravo brothers at 5 & 6. They might enjoy coming out to bat with the Windies in a decent position.
Don't think Nash is good enough to play test cricket but if you are going to have the West Indies answer to Daniel Flynn somewhere, try and get him as high up as possible.
His keeping has improved TBF to him. Not seen much if any mistakes of him the times I've seen him play for Jamaica the last couple years.Yeah, Edwards is injured even more than Taylor though. It'd help if they could get injured at interchangeable times and just rotate.
Baugh's a decent enough bat for 7 IMO (despite his current Test average) - his keeping is crap though. I suppose he doesn't qualify as a keeper who can bat given he's not really a keeper.
And Chesney Hughes, Brathwaite, Bishoo, Holder and Gabriel amoungst others!!..there's no doubt in my mind that the this new generation that's emeraging will bring respect back to Caribbean cricket.Real shame Barath got out after such a good platform and so close to lunch. It might only be his third test, but boy, does he potentially have a great future for the Windies.
It's quite an interesting time for the Windies, with players like Barath, Junior Bravo, Russell and Roach all emerging.
I think the bowling in the upcoming years will be crucial. With potential stars like Barath and DBravo (Brathwaite too young to be considered), the Windies batting could be fairly strong. And Chesney Hughes, Brathwaite, Bishoo, Holder and Gabriel amoungst others!!..there's no doubt in my mind that the this new generation that's emeraging will bring respect back to Caribbean cricket.
Ravi Rampaul is a good addition to their attack, keeps it tight. Just need a couple more strike bowlers though, unless of course Edwards and Taylor start performing. But Edwards and Taylor are too frequently injured and Roach can't carry an attack by himself. Partially why I'm so looking forward to seeing how Russell bowl
Rampaul's dire tbh. Darren Sammy without the batting.Ravi Rampaul is a good addition to their attack, keeps it tight. Just need a couple more strike bowlers though, unless of course Edwards and Taylor start performing.
Brathwaite is in the A-team for the up and coming test matches against Pakistan, so hopefully he shows his potential, imo he has the most potential out of all the batsman we have coming through.I think the bowling in the upcoming years will be crucial. Yep the man is terrible, put on so much weight over the last few years and is line and length just isn't good enough at test level,Rampaul's dire tbh. Darren Sammy without the batting.
