If someone commits an offence worthy of a red card then you can't let the game run and then go and send them off as soon as there's a break in play - the game has to be stopped immediately, and the player in question dismissed.BBC Sport - Football - Blackburn 0-0 Sunderland
"Referee Lee Probert, having consulted his linesman, correctly applied the letter of the law in dismissing the giant Samba, and was also right to award a free-kick on the edge of the area where the first contact was made"
It's reading stuff like this that makes me wonder. First contact implies the foul continued into the box - I've not seen it myself but presumably someone has. I dunno if the red card complicates things, but I'm sure there are plenty of other examples without that complication anyway.
All that shows is that Liverpool have had a woeful start to the season - which is magnified by there being no previous good form to pull them up the table.I know what you mean, but really, it is, because Liverpool are now in the relegation zone. This is unheralded for a generation of their supporters.
I get what you're saying, but I'd be surprised if you'd be able to find a fan anywhere that would rather see their team finish 17th over 10th.For a club with Liverpool's expectations, finishing 10th is really no better than scraping 17th.
I am genuinely shocked. I thought it was all idle rumour. Rooney could have gone down in the same esteem as the likes of Giggs and Scholes. I can only see his career going downhill from here.
Nah, Kuyt's worked well with Gerrard and Torres with the attacking midfielder/striker role.Own goal hat-trick right there.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt United buy him from the club that bred himI am genuinely shocked. I thought it was all idle rumour. Rooney could have gone down in the same esteem as the likes of Giggs and Scholes. I can only see his career going downhill from here.
Well, yeah, not in that sense obviously. But it's hard to see a better career fit for him than Man U.Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt United buy him from the club that bred him
Professional = "pay me most"Well, yeah, not in that sense obviously. But it's hard to see a better career fit for him than Man U.
can go top himself.
Depends how he feels about playing in the Championship next year, I suppose.Liverpool must be a decent outside bet - he won't be a popular lad whichever way he turns
