Can Tendulkar get 100 international hundreds?

Sachin Tendulkar is getting older, and his skills are getting better and better. At the ripe age of 37 years and 169 days, Tendulkar has become the first batsman to get to 14,000 Test runs. Even better than the fact that he got there was the manner in which he raced from 13,000 to 14,000. If the question were asked, "Is Tendulkar playing the best he ever has?", the answer could well be, "Yes, he is."

I won't say he has mastered the art of test match batting, but he has definitely mastered his role in this new Indian side amazingly well... He plays the odd attacking knock or the odd attacking phase in a knock that tells the opposition "hey I can do this too, you know?" and his legend is such that people always are afraid of him doing that to them and end up going defensive a bit early against him and play right into his hands.. And so, while you have Sehwag and perhaps Raina and Dhoni playing aggressive cricket, Sachin almost always comes in with the game set exactly how he wants it to be..

It is this skill that I find as the most amazing thing in him as a batsman.. It was obvious in ODIs and we are starting to see it in tests now.. The ability to get exactly the sort of fields and lines from bowlers as he wants through just the judicious use of a couple of shots... Amazing really!!!

On a more serious note, what I meant to say was that while Sachin is not exactly the God of test match batting (as he is of ODI top order batting, at least IMHO and hence the 99.94 reference) he has still mastered the game so well that he is able to dictate how the opposition bowls to him and what fields they set for him.. This is something that is s obvious in his ODI batting and something that sets him apart from the rest, for me, and it is great that he is showing that he can transfer that to tests as well, at this late stage of his career.. I don't really still think he could have played the role that someone like Lara played for his team but that is purely subjective and boils down to perceptions more than anything else. Sachin, for me, is easily the best batsmen in tests right now, inspite of Sehwag..

It's a great achievement. Sobers played 20 years and averaged almost 58 too.

yeah.. and that is a debate for another thread and honestly, I don't have the energy left to do it. AFAIC, between Viv, Greg Chappell, Lara and Sachin, there is virtually nothing to show one is better than the other. End of. Personal preference and all that will come into play. Dot.
