Just on Watson, I'm not being deliberately contrary but I don't think it's great technique. He's planting his front foot and playing around it unless a delivery is woefully short.

Has been playing the ball off the pitch, which he's generally got away with because it's so slow. Has been dogged and he obviously has a good eye, but I wouldn't hold it up as exhibit A on how to play spin, myself.

Agreed absolutely. It's worked for him here, though.

Yeah not pretty at all, for mine. On anything other than a pudding like this deck is you'd fancy your chances of drawing a close-in catch.

Your posts make little sense sometimes.

Good start by Australia. I was expecting Australia to collapse after Ponting departed, our middle order is woeful from a strong position. Need 450+ I feel.

Still could. They haven't exactly scored a bucketload post-Ponting.

It'd be interesting to see how the lower middle order play. It obv depends on how many this pair + North get, but I think there'd be a case for a counter attack myself. Oz getting wee bit bogged down now.

Indeed, which is why Clarke's dismissal is so annoying. Could so easily see him bang a couple of these down the ground for a few boundaries.

Proper old-fashioned cricket. Run rate's only a bit under 3, don't see why it's really a problem. Better 204/3 than 270/5.

Depends how you define the word interesting, but I found it interesting how the ESPNCricinfo speed gun has Zaheer reaching speeds of 88mph and Ishant reaching speeds of 87mph where the TV has them at considerably lower speeds.

I'd say cricinfo is correct there. No way was Ishant bowling 125kmh.

Oh, and Watto in the 90's. Here we go....
