*Official* Australia in India 2010

Aus reverse swung the ball in the last series, they just got it after 70 overs while Zak and co got it to reverse as early as the 20th over and it was ineffective since the batsmen had got the team to a good position. When Aus are bowling this time, the reverse swing that they will get is just going to be the difference between a 300+ score and a 400+ score. Aus will show a much better batting performance this time with Zak being rusty and the rest being out of form.

And hence, the series win(if Aus win) will not count since Zak is rusty, Ishant is in decline and Bhajji and the spinners are out of form. aussie rules of course.
Ha. Atlough this a sarcastic point. Their is alot of truth in it.

Winning in IND now in this post Kumb/e/Harbhajan in decline period. Will indeed be slightly more easier than before. But if the IND are smart & prepare real dustbowls & pick a three-man spin attack of Bhaji/Ohja/Mishra - that can very well & assit those out of form spinners in being effective. Since although AUS batsmen have improved againts spin - they aren't as perfect today as they where in 2004 when they won in IND & SRI. So thats a tactic very much worth pursing - given the form of the quicks.

But if they dont & go for the likely conservative scenario of picking 2 quicks & 2 spinners, along with not having real dustbowls in the two test. It will just be average/poor tactics by IND, so if AUS win under those circumstances it will certainly count, since IND would not have made best use of their home advantage.

Can Australia consider playing another pacer in place of Hauritz? Clarke and Smith could bowl if the need arises, because atm Hauritz doesn't seem like taking any wickets or troubling the Indian batsmen. tbh the only reason I feel he is playing is to complete the 'formality' of having a spinner. The fast bowling on the other hand, has been of really high quality, with George and Mitchell, two new talents on the sidelines as well.

Although four specialist pacers together with Watson would be a bit of an overkill :S
I'd replace him with Bollinger, but if Dougheh isn't available I'm not sure another pacer would offer anything useful or different for the attack.

Ashwin should be Bhajji's spin partner tbh or Ojha, considering Aus' weakness to left arm spin bowling.

Ashwin's will be knocking selectors doors by now.....May be in ODI's..... instead of Sir Jaddu.... And he can also bat superbly....

Got some FC hundreds to his name. Could be India's long term spin bowling all rounder in all formats imo. Would be the first bowling all rounder who bowls spin after a long time for India.

Hilfenhaus with 5 wickets. Expecting him to be the one reliable bowler for Australia in this series. Knows all about bowling on flat wickets considering the surfaces he bowls on at Bellerive. Just needs to keep himself fit.

Oh, Hauritz got a wicket as well. And I notice his economy has come down quite a lot too, which is a better sign.

The annoyance with Hauritz is that he is still bowling no-balls. No off-spinner should be bowling them. If he bowls one in the Test series and dismisses Sehwag, I hope Sehwag smokes 200 runs after the let-off. Such a basic of the game.

The guy is having his first bowl in months following quite a serious injury

He's not the world's best by any means but has proven himself to be a very valuable player for Oz and any talk of him being dropped is utter nonsense

For a player with such an outstanding record, I reckon this is a critical series for Gambhir

Whilst any talk of him being dropped is premature, he's been badly exposed of late by pace and has hardly scored a run in his last 3 tests

So has Piyush Chawla and is currently scoring 82 out of a total of 177 against Australia for BP11.

But when it comes to international level he seems nothing more than a tailender.Perhaps it is a confidence issue, but i am still with the same not convinced about Ashwin's batting.

As for his bowling,he is a defensive sort of bowler who works very well in T20's and will probably work in ODI's .But in tests his ability to penetrate is still questionable to me.

Tbf,His last 3 tests have been spread over 8 months and he has had injury issues.

Don't think he is any danger of being dropped even if he fails in this series as he has a very good record and there really isn't any other opener who is knocking on the door and he works very well with Sehwag.

This series is more crucial for the likes of Dravid,Ponting,Hussey than Gambhir.

Ponting and Hussey will play the Ashes come what may unless they get injured - but Dravid will certainly face the retirement calls if he fails and India lose.
