So what does the future hold for West Indies?

As i've said many times already no-one knows what Gibson is thinking Mike 8-) , the man is bound to have HIS OWN IDEAS, Deo has impressed him without a shadow of a doubt so like i said someone is gonna miss out, he won't do what you've suggest either and drop a bowler to fit Nash, Shiv and Deo in the side, it just won't happen.
So, because Gibson's 'impressed' with Deo, you think he has an automatic place in the WI side? Dream on....
Windie's my friend, even though our views are on totally opposite sides of the spectrum!

Mike Deo has been killing it at FC level, he scored 80 in his last tests and basically won us the series against Zimbabwe!!, the man is on a roll, are you honestly telling me he's not gonna be in the side?!!!

On another subject thanks again for helping me get on the CC forum man!!, i know i can be a hard headed sod sometimes but it's all in good nature bro!! .

Well, most people don't expect him in.... But I can see why he should be. But the suggestion that Chanders will be dropped for Deo..... Get real. Axing Nash for Deo is slightly more realistic, but still ridiculous.

Chanders has been off form for a year now and Nash is a little too slow with the runs which puts pressure on his batting partner, i don't care which one it is as long as Deo is in the side.

I don't think Deo will miss out, but there is very little chance Shiv or Nash won't be in the XI barring injury. Whether you agree or not, realistically, that is what will happen.

Oh yeah, Braithwaite got a century (110), fair play to the lad.

Really see no reason West Indies can't go with both.

Gayle
Barath
Sarwan
Deonarine
Chanderpaul
Nash
Bravo
Ramdin
Taylor
Roach
Edwards

People will say the bowling's light on but I really don't think Ramdin's better than a #8 bat, and that's still West Indies best four bowlers IMO, backed up by Gayle who's useful. Taylor and Edwards routinely being injured will still leave Benn with plenty of game-time too. :p

No telling if Edwards will even be anywhere near decent when he's back.

That would be my batting lineup too, Prince....

With regards to the bowlers, Edwards is out for the rest of the year, and there are doubts over Taylor's fitness, so I see Benn as a certainty to play in the first Test, if he's injury-free.

Wasn't talking about the next Test specificially; I was posting a "full strength" team.

Taylor is already training with WI for the t20 competition so i suspect by the time we play South Africa he will be well up to speed, my argument about Deo, Nash and Shiv is we can't play all of them because that means we'd have to leave out a bowler, which i really don't think a bowling man like Gibson would do.

On another note Holder is apparently being chased by one of the county sides and of course like Craig said the boy wonder that is Kraigg Brathwaite cracked 110 runs against a combined county side yesterday, i've said it before and i'll say it again i think the kid is the next Lara, he'll be playing for WI very soon imo.

Now I rate KB incredibly highly as I'm sure you know and his domination of the recent Under 19 WC and subsequent form in Barbados invitational matches only confirms my opinion of him.

But he is not the next Lara. He bats nothing like him. If anything KB is the next Rahul Dravid with Chanderpaul like powers of concentration. He does not score quickly at all and hardly ever hits sixes but he will just keep batting all day long.

It is this that has me so excited. He is not your typical modern West Indian right handed batsman with shots all around the wicket but no mental strength to back it up. He already knows his limitations and works within them to score runs prolifically no matter what level he plays. It is also why he is the nearest thing to a certainty we have had for some time when it comes to likelihood to succeed at the highest level.

It's all about potential Beamer, when i compare him to Lara i'm not talking about styles alone i'm talking about his ability to stay at the crease for long periods and get runs, how many 6's was Lara hitting aged 17? that will come man, the kid has it all, he can play spin easy like he showed against Zimbabwe, he can play on the front or back foot and is good against pace, the more cricket he plays the better he'll get, him and Barath are gonna be a problem for the opposition in the future i have no doubts about that!! .

The lad just turned 17 a few months ago and got 80 against Zimbabwe and 110 against a 'combined county side' full of some very talented and experienced players from English county cricket, yes it's not major opposition but for his age i'd say it's pretty impressive.
