Its the type of cricket that I was brought up on. Im not keen on the chirping and pathetic sledging but I love a bit of passion that boils over and then calms.

Im usually very harsh on the behavior of cricketers but I saw nothing wrong with that. Boys being boys in the heated cauldron of international sport.

As long as the same players dont make a habit of it, it is a release of frustration, its directed at a player rather than an umpire and 'in the moment' then I think it is healthy. Its when it continues and doesnt blow over or settle down when it is a problem.
I understand where you're coming from mate and I'm not averse to players firing up at each other, I'm just concerned that once someone gets physical on a cricket field, well it can potentially escalate pretty badly.

Thats the next step and isnt acceptable. A bit of fire in the belly never hurt anyone. Not comparable to a punch being thrown.

Yeah true I suppose.

Wouldn't be cricket if a quick didn't have smoke coming out his ears every now and again.

Exactly. This incident was no worse than Steve Waugh vs Curtley Ambrose back in the day.

Reckon it was personally, perhaps through good luck and good management on Richie Richardson's part.

It's piss poor though tbh. This sort of thing is slowly but surely creeping onto the game, and one day someone's going to get snotted on the field. Will be a sad, sad day when that happens, but it will.
Nah, I disagree. I love a bit of this on the field. Nothing better than seeing a fired up pace bowler and a batsmen whose willing to back himself against the short ball.

Liking your change of avatar, one of the great Seinfeld moments that

Not that there was anyway wrong with the massage, just a good change

I am not sure how it is different from Gambhir's infamous shoulder barrage with Watson. For that Gambhir copped a test match ban. As I said before, another case of incompetent/inconsistent match refereeing. ICC really needs to look into this appaling standards.

So guys. Heard rumours suggesting Ponting was a more accomplished player than Tendulkar. Thoughts?

Except that most, if not all, kiwis dont give a **** and neither do the Black Caps or the man on the spot, Styris. It happened on the field, players shook hands after, and alls well that ends well. The kiwi crowds will extract their pound of flesh as the tour goes on, dont you worry. Besides, I'd prefer if Mitch wasnt banned - dont want any excuses from "big brother" when we wipe the floor 5 - 0 with him in this backyard stoush.

Careful mate, or I shall extract 15 paragraphs of irrelevant stats to show you why you're wrong.

Then again, maybe I'll just say fair enough, we'll agree to disagree ;)

I refuse to let you agree that we disagree. Let us continue this argument in a circular fashion with evidence that can be simply rehashed to suit our point of view. In order to ensure that such a discussion is debated to its maximum potential I will now continue to raise the issue across various other threads to make certain everyone is aware of my viewpoint.
