Careful mate, or I shall extract 15 paragraphs of irrelevant stats to show you why you're wrong.

Then again, maybe I'll just say fair enough, we'll agree to disagree ;)

I refuse to let you agree that we disagree. Let us continue this argument in a circular fashion with evidence that can be simply rehashed to suit our point of view. In order to ensure that such a discussion is debated to its maximum potential I will now continue to raise the issue across various other threads to make certain everyone is aware of my viewpoint.

He may have done. It was just a bit of friendly banter. He was trying to get into my head to get me out and I was trying to win the battle over him.
Styris on Cricinfo when asked about the head butt.

I am opposed to sledging and player confrontations to "get inside people's heads".

I am happy that Johnson got fined more than Styris - but don't even know why Styris got fined at all. Presumably for receiving a head butt and shouting back I guess.

I was pleased with Haddin's behaviour for breaking it up.

I was pleased to see Johnson offer a hand shake at the end of the game though. Props to him for doing that.

Imagine if it had've been Watson who did the head butt and not Johnson we would have been all over Watto.

My conclusion on this - is that because there was physical contact there should have been a stiffer penalty but I think I am in the minority with this opinion based on other people's posts. But I note from Styris' quote that he is not bothered in the slightest.

Johnson has prior form, he got quite fired up during a warm up in the ashes for what seemed a non-issue. Fired up hasn't seemed to work for him yet.

I'm predicting a nightmare tour for Australia.

I said two weeks ago that we'd get rolled in the ODIs and lose one of the Tests.

It just has that feel to it.

Thought Styris had words with him after the first boundary? Just before Johnson pointed towards his own head to indicate a bouncer.

Not that I think that there was anything that wrong with it.

Yeah it's pretty obvious physical intimidation/aggression doesn't really work for MJ. He's just too docile and softly spoken off the field.

I'm going to the Thursday game. It's going to be weird having half the stadium missing.

Pretty sure I've heard Taylor refer to his Samoan heritage though.
i have aswell - and thats fine. what bugs me is how the media only ever talk about him being samoan, like he is fresh of the boat. My point is, he is 50/50 and born in NZ.

Good on him for indicating what Styris should be expecting next ball. That's awesome. Poor form to drop it short but not short enough to effect a bouncer. Identical to the ball before - same result. My theory is that he hates himself and tried taking it out on the opposition.

Next game if he finds himself in that situation again he could do a Bree Lee and not have it hit the pitch.

True, I guess.

You have to feel for Brent Arnel, though - seemingly always the next man in line, only to be overlooked for a random selection of someone else. Mason's been completely off the selectors' radar for a couple of years now.

Would have also gone for Butler and Bradley Scott ahead of Mason.
