TBH, I'd have withdrawn if muppets were disallowed. They act as checks for those who place ridiculously low bids (obviously would have worked a lot better if everyone sent in their bids on time consistently), and keep their bids honest. There's no point if there's no disincentive for placing a $1 bid every round.I'd also be interested in any feedback about the draft, obviously it's a new concept and has had a few teething problems - personally the presence of muppets in the draft has been a shame, but as I didn't specify any rules then I can't really complain!
I agree with this actually. IMHO the only reason SS has such a good team after blowing so much of his budget on one or two players is because every round has had two or three no-shows allowing him to pick up good players for next to nothing. Which is fair play to SS for realising that would be the case, but still I think people not submitting has been more of a problem than some average players getting nominated.TBH, I'd have withdrawn if muppets were disallowed. It's about having a plan from the very beginning. Having five or six players identified who you would go after, and then trying to find decent players to fill around.I agree with this actually. I didn't like the muppets at all, and the people who nominated them are the ones who got stuck with them. They were designed for people like me who blow out their budgets and get stuck with them, and even though I have slightly more sense about when to bid high vs. low than people apparently gave me credit for, I don't think it's that fun.I'd also be interested in any feedback about the draft, obviously it's a new concept and has had a few teething problems - personally the presence of muppets in the draft has been a shame, but as I didn't specify any rules then I can't really complain!
My idea was for a free auction over fewer rounds where you can get more than one player per round and you don't have to nominate anyone - every test player in history is up for grabs from the start.I didn't like the muppets at all, and the people who nominated them are the ones who got stuck with them. I mean if you get Mohammad Sami after trying, it kind of just puts a sour taste in your mouth IMO. There shouldn't be nominations next time - CW ranked the top 25 bowlers and top 25 batsman - all of them should automatically be included. There'll be plenty to differentiate the sides consisting of only top players. This just makes it weird.
I'd definitely be up for it again, but with no muppets. I'd be cool with another Auction draft - maybe this one would have only seven or eight people and we'd use 'active' Test players only to establish the best Test XI....
Yeah, is true. Am going to enjoy seeing these last two rounds though.Yes, a bit of a shame to get this far then duck out - still 13 are in though.
Yeah, I introduced nominations because it would've been too much work for me to produce the lists for each round as well as the rest - I wouldn't have included any muppets though. There shouldn't be nominations next time - CW ranked the top 25 bowlers and top 25 batsman - all of them should automatically be included. I'll give it a while before starting another one, but have a few ideas (obviously an ODI and maybe even a T20 one, then there's current players etc.)I'd definitely be up for it again, but with no muppets.
