Auction draft

Somerset

Cricketer Of The Year
Easily the best team at the moment.
Blakey's team is very strong though personally I think theres very little separating the top sides. I'm actually slightly favouring Nufan, G.I.Joe and Hirmannv but that could all change based on how they compile their sides in the last couple of auctions. I also think the final few rounds in which budgets become more stretched is going to have a major factor on whose team is regarding the strongest in the end.

Noble One

International Vice-Captain
Awesome bowling attacking BI. Batting will hurt though, Kapali is a spud and Hooper doesn't compare to the majority of batsman selected thus far.

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
@NobleOne:

Well, I still got decent batters going around and hopefully, the next two picks will be good enough.. :)

Kapali is obviously going to hurt.. I kept giving bids on round figures and no doubt that hurt me pretty bad there.. Have learnt my lesson since then.. :)

Hey Marc, I think your a batsman short for the next round.
I am as well - not sure how I messed that up.

S Dempster (Stewie)
WG Grace (WG)

NUFAN

Y no Afghanistan flag
Hey marc, Is Hussey the only difference? Can you make Hussey $1 under my third highest bid for me please.

Less than a day to go, and less than half the entries in.

Noble One, silentstriker, Nnanden, slowfinger, pskov, G.I.Joe, Marcuss and Eds.

This would be a second consecutive non-submission for Marcuss and Eds - I'm sorely tempted to remove them if they don't submit (and then use some of their players in the last 2 rounds)

silentstriker

The Wheel is Forever
  1. ?
  2. Len Hutton
  3. Shivnarine Chanderpaul
  4. Richie Richardson
  5. ?
  6. ?
  7. Adam Gilchrist
  8. Keith Miller
  9. Darren Gough
  10. Lance Gibbs
  11. Glenn McGrath

That means we'll see Warne, Turner and Davis all available for selection for the next round (And Viv Richards, Mark Waugh, Peter May and Andrew Flintoff for the final round (although technically Flintoff could be nominated this round I guess)

Marc, I'm going to follow in Eds's path. That last round effectively killed any hopes I had of winning the draft.
I'd like to thank you for the way you've run this and I've enjoyed it very much. Just I feel that I'll have greater excitement in watching people battle it out for Imran Khan than trying to stretch my budget across the last few players :)

pskov

International 12th Man
Pah you pansies! I have Mark Butcher and Heath Streak, decent players but hardly all-time caliber, but am soldiering on.

Yes, a bit of a shame to get this far then duck out - still 13 are in though.

Only Nnanden and slowfinger to submit now.

G.I.Joe

Trust me, if it was up to me I wouldn't be using him. At least I got him very cheap.
Of course its not upto you. Whats the point of nominating him otherwise. Wait till you see the total muppet I've nominated for the next round

The benefit of having fewer people is it's quicker for me to do the draft.

Non submission penalty was $1,001,111 this round and the following were drafted:

Z Abbas - pskov
G Boycott - Pothas
S Dempster - Himannv
WG Grace - Somerset
N Harvey - NUFAN
P Hendren - Simon
M Hussey - slowfinger (non-submission)
R Kanhai - Blakus
G Kirsten - G.I.Joe
V Merchant - silentstriker
A Prince - Nnanden (non-submission)
B Simpson - Noble One
E Weekes - honestbharani

I had to add in 3 players: S Dempster, M Hussey and E Weekes

The winning bids were: $11, $51,517, $148,900, $595,000, $600,001, $700,000, $815,000, $843,000, $843,380, $999,801, $1,001,111.

Time for the 4th bowler, round 10:
C Ambrose (Curtley)
S Barnes (Sid)
S Gupte (Subhash)
R Irani (Ronnie)
I Khan (Imran)
B Lee (Brett)
D Lillee (Dennis)
T Lock (Tony)
G Lohmann (George)
F Mahmood (Fazal)
S Ramadhin (Sonny)
T Richardson (Tom)
S Warne (Shane)

Last round is the final batsman, remember that the likes of Compton, Viv Richards, May, Trumper are all available again - I'll set the deadline as 10pm on Wednesday evening please (but I don't guarantee that results will be up immediately at 10)

I'd also be interested in any feedback about the draft, obviously it's a new concept and has had a few teething problems - personally the presence of muppets in the draft has been a shame, but as I didn't specify any rules then I can't really complain!
