*Official* Bangladesh in New Zealand

Mortaza's ruled himself out of the test match. He'll probably retire from tests altogether very soon.

Nigel Yeldon seems to think Andy McKay was picked for the same reason Trent Boult was picked last year, to give the Black Caps batsmen practice against a left arm quick before facing Mitchell Johnson and now Doug Bollinger. He seems to think Boult was never actually in the running to play against Australia last year and McKay is exactly the same pick.

That's a big call tbh, but it is actually believable.
Nah I doubt that. If they really wanted practice they'd just bring him along to the nets and have someone else in the squad.

Hoping McKay wipes the floor with the Bangladeshis after that article Smity posted.

I seem to be always posting Bangladesh teams these days. I would go with this team for the Test Match at Hamilton.

1. Tamim
2. Nafees
3. Siddique
4. Saleh
5. Ashraful
6. Rahim
7. Shakib
8. Mahmudullah
9. Mortaza
10. Shahadat
11. Shafiul
Saleh? He is extinct! It is about time Ashraful gets the boot...Nafees should play more domestic matches and have an average higher than his current paltry one of 30+ to even come near the national team be it in ODIs or Tests! Poor Mortaza, his physical issues have totally cut his career short !

Shahadat due for a big tour one feels, they definitely need someone in their pace attack to lead by example

I actually think Shafiul looks quite promising also. I think he will do well in the Test Match. Shame about Mortaza, Bangladesh need to find a 3rd seamer in NZ.

Saleh got out for a golden duck today or yesterday, he probably isn't going to be selected.

Saleh is a very good player technically correct is a much better choice than Mohmd Ashraful who is about as good a batsman as Nathan Hauritz.

Alok Kapali is so talented any chance of a recall for him?

Don't buy the pressure on Taylor argument. Different people handle pressure in different ways.

I.e, look at Vettori. His performances have possibly become better the more pressure he has been subjected to with various roles.

Various arguments have been made, when you look at players like Steve Waugh, who was good under pressure coming in, vs Ian Bell, who arguably tends to go MIA when the heat is turned up.

We just don't know with Taylor, he could be the sort to thrive with extra responsibility.

Waugh had been playing cricket for more than 10 years before he was made captain. He already knew his game inside-out.

Taylor is still learning the art of batsmanship.

I think Mccullum has been robbed he has all the qualities of a good leader in the future for the Black Caps. He also garners a lot of respect from opponents.

Sure, they're different careers/people, but don't lose sight of my point which was that mindsets are different, and people will behave differently to the pressures of responsibility.

Now he's learning the art of batsmanship and getting a leg up on the art of captaincy in addition.

Don't coddle the boy.

Taylor works well under pressure, his biggest problem was always getting out with a soft shot. When the going gets tough he usually buckles down and does the hard yards. Think this may actually be a pretty decent move.

Boof? Seems extremely unlikely, lol.
I'm happy with them picking Taylor - only fitting candidate anyway. I hope whoever suggested that it will affect Taylor's game isn't also complaining about McCullum not getting the job.
For me Taylor>McCullum in regards to all leadership responsibilities.

Taylor may captain against Bangladesh and AUSTRALIA 8-) if Vettori can't play.

Cricket: Black Caps name Ross Taylor as Vettori's stand-in | BLACK CAPS News

Does anyone else find this just completely D.I.R.E. Way to go selectors: put even more pressure on our most promising young batsmen when he is still trying to establish himself as a world-class player at no.4.
This is a negative turn of events for McCullum - who forwent the IPL to further his captaincy aspirations.

Nope, been dire with the bat in all forms and competitions so far this year.

Would like to see...

Tamim Iqbal
Junaid Siddique (for want of a better option...)
Shahriar Nafees
Raqibul Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan
Mahmudullah
Mushfiqur Rahim

plus three seamers and a spinner. Not a chance of that being the side though.

EDIT: Of course there's no chance of that, Nafees isn't even in the squad. Replaced by Aftab. Logic?
