Youre kidding arent you Thierry???

That has to be one of the worst articles ive seen written. Its pure gutter journalism

All rumours/allegedly and speculation

Who is to say that it was 2/3 of the people on this forum who havent made those quotes? if they were even said at all.

Why did Alderson not ask the selectors if this was the reason Styris was left out? It just smacks of a hidden agenda and an attempt to bring a guy down for no reason

Disgraceful writing and the guy should be slacked..i hope he sues for slander

Of course Flem i am a fan. that we all know is obvious

But put that to the side for a minute and what part of that article would you expect to read in a reputable paper like the Herald. It is Tabloid rubbish at best no matter who it is about

Trying to analyse it it reeks of past players and not current ones but i could be wrong

im just saying it could be true or it could be two guys who dont like Styris but what does that have to do with not being selected?? Im sure we all know a couple of people who we work with who we dont like or dont like us?

But its the reason why sportspeople dont like the media and thats because people you like guys believe everything you read. If this was rubbish what right of reply does Styris have? Cowardly is the reporter for not writing a balanced and fair peice with actually relevant people quoted about selection/non selection

Firstly don't assume we all believe everything we read.

Andrew Alderson is a pretty respected reporter and broadcaster who has been around a bit, he doesn't need to indulge in gutter journalism to make a name for himself.

Reporters have already asked selectors. I believe they gave a line something like "we're building for the world cup" etc

Scott Styris was asked if he would like to make a response and he politely declined.

The reporter asked players about the ommission which is fair reporting. Players get asked about selection all the time and usually shy away from comment. This time a few players took the opportunity to comment so it was reported.

The only agenda I've seen is you wanking all over Styris at every opportunity.
At first I read this as walking, and was confused. I must have a purer mind than I thought!

Sad to hear about the history behind Greatbach, thanks for that. Really does sound like a bad step by NZC.

Rumour has it John Wright is quite disappointed to miss out, and that the reason he didn't get the job is that he wanted to have the reins, and run the team as a tighter ship with him as authority, ala Steve Rixon. The players didn't like the sound of that obviously and made noise to that effect.

This is at an odds with Greatbach's "Vettori and the boys are in charge, I'm the chief helper" approach which obviously made him firm favourite contender with the players.

Personally I would much much rather the John Wright/Steve Rixon firm hand approach for this team, and NZC should have gone in that direction. Fine, the players kicked out Moles, but the message sent to the players should have been "You thought Moles didn't really have the top level cricket expertise necessary to be coach, so you'll get a proven international coach of good standing as replacement"

not

you kicked out Moles, congrats, you run the team now.

I really don't think this will end well.

Why? I really don't think we need a 'firm hand' coach with Vettori at the helm.

Anyway stoked that its free on prime.

What are the T20 teams going to look like?

Brendon McCullum (wk)
Peter Ingram
Martin Guptill
Ross Taylor (vc)
James Franklin
Daniel Vettori (c)
Nathan McCullum
Jacob Oram
Ian Butler
Daryl Tuffey
Tim Southee

12th Hopkins

Jeez how Hopkins got in the team baffles me, Kitchensink and Styris really really should have been ahead of him. Oram too is baffling to me though if taken in a bowling capacity is more forgiveable yet more likely to see Hopkins bat.

Anaru Kitchen wouldn't even be close to the NZ team yet, he does look good though.
Big fan of putting unusual form players in T20s.
The only batsman who I think played better than Kitchen were:
Taylor, McCullum, Pinga, Franklin, Guppy, Vincent, Piggo

4 being openers.
Only 3 middle order players did better than him and Pig wasn't in the running for other reasons.

Hopkins was alright but inferior and Oram couldn't score a run.

Sinclair and Parlane don't get mentions for being Sinclair and Parlane.

It's going to be funny to see how Ingram does. His technique suggests he should fail miserably, but I have a feeling he will succeed, at least against Bangladesh.

The more I see of him the more I have a bit of hope for him. I've said to Phlegm I think he'll have trouble against the quicker men internationally particularly against short stuff and yorkers, but I really think he could come off alright. Kind of like a dirty mix with Sehwag taking away that Tendulkar-esque drive and diluting it 50% with water. Could prove to be handy, knows his game and backs himself.

If he fails I can mock Phlegm.

Win-win.

Haha.

Question. Parlane Brothers or Marshall Brothers. Who is more mediocre?

I'm going with the Parlanes as the Marshalls can pull off some fielding from the top drawer.

What i've seen of him of late (admittedly, the first time i've ever seen him) is he pretty much swings at anything he can get his arms through, and he goes straight through the line. Because of that if the ball moves, he generally misses it, if the ball doesn't move, it goes sailing out of the park. He can get made to look like a chump 3 balls in a row, and the next 3 balls could be smoked out of the ground.

Interesting player, probably what NZ need in the test side!

Marshalls > Parlanes
Fielding and when they are both at the crease their running between the wickets is something special. Magic twin running I call it.

Don't think we should chuck him into the Test side just yet.

Like I've said before, I'd much rather have him in the test team then McIntosh. But I highly doubt he has any succes (or much) at the next level.
