That was what I was thinking, well the opposite, in that theres no way its like the UEFA CL where its a competition for the best of the best and the top players want to play it and if you are a great player thats where you are going to shine, thats what test cricket is for.
Twenty20 is about crowd excitement, making money for players, administrators and the game as a whole and not a battle about who are the best players.
I guess its possible for them improve on the structuring of the CL though, by for example allowing the all of AUS, ENG, SA, WI, PAK, IND, NZ to send TWO domestic teams to the CL - which could improve it TBH. WI, NZ, SRI only had one domestic side in the tournament last time IIRC.

I agree at the end of the day T20 is not proper cricket & is mainly about crowd excitement & making money for players. But if they strcuture the CL properly the CL can be a solid T20 tournament TBF even if its just a slog-fest..

I enjoyed watching the last Champions League. I do agree that NSW should be allowed to defend their title, regardless of how well they did this year in the domestic T20 comp.

I agree with those that say that NSW should earn their place.

Half the problem with the Champions League in soccer is the same teams keep qualifying, making ****loads of money which puts them at an advantage to qualify again. And the cycle continues.

Struggle to see how that is a problem with the CL TBF. Rather the fact tha best teams keep playing every year means its always top quality football.

Missing the point.

The money from the CL gives teams an advantage to stay the best team.

Big final tonight, hard to pick a winner. Given the size of the Adelaide Oval, it takes just one batsman to have a blinder and it is game over.

Player of the tournament anyone?

My pick is James Hopes he has made an incredible contribution with bat and ball for Queensland. Great returns from Hopes, until this season I considered him one of the worst allrounders in Australia at Twenty20 cricket.

If Shaun Tait takes 3-4 wickets tonight, then he can have the award.

Wouldn't suprise me if the Hussey Manou thing was pre-planned.
Dunno, the afters probably is but I was at the match and when Hussey got out he was furious. I thought at the time he must have been given a send off as he looked back 3-4 times whilst walking off and looked to have said a few things. Probably got told to P*** off on his way too :p

If the Vics fielded just 5-10% better on the night it would have been a closer game.

Yes the money helps, but uefa still has restriction on them TBF. If United for eg win the CL if they dont finish in the top 4 in the prem the next domestic season they wont get to defend their title or something close to that i'm not 100% sure..

Going to take something special for South Australia to win this. Victoria are simply clinical right now, Nannes and Pattinson putting in the big effort early on to finish off the work done by Blizzard with the blade.
