For the last couple of years, WWE has taken the decision to be family friendly. While I don't have a problem with this because times have changed and nobody really wants to see Vince Russo style Attitude Era booking, the edge has certainly been taken off and the shows are a lot more stale.

That being said I think it's more a case of bad writing, no forward planning and not giving opportunities to the bright young stars they have available. Smackdown is generally the far better show in terms of wrestling and stars.

Well of course they don't, but the point is it sells and that's why they are still around.

When DX were at their peak in the late 90s Triple H was a face and hugely over.

The fact is for that 30 minute pocket of Raw it could have been 2002, 2006 or 2010. I wouldn't know because the same two guys are hogging the main event.

Maybe I watched a bad 30 minutes, but I instead of feeling nostalgia after not watching for 4 years (after 13 years of following it), I remembered why I stopped.

This is more or less the sentiment of "our generation" of fans. Problem is the WWE don't care about us and the new tards lap it up despite how stale and unfunny 99% of adults find them.

It's bad enogh they've turned their supposedly dominant heel champion into a complete *****(tired cliched booking) but the main problem I have since re-watching RAW is how irrelevant actual wrestling seems to be. I'm not compelled in the slightest of ordering a PPV as by watching TV shows gives you little to no idea of their abiities to put on PPV style matches.

Shame as this is the big opportunity for them to claw back a lot of old fans with the current wars going on and guys like Miz, Kingston and Seamus have a heap of potential but for me it looks like once Bret has gone back it's back to MMA for me. Proper, interesting entertainment for young adults.

Feel the E is coming in for a little harsh treatment here, imo it's at the best it has been in a very long while. I agree with Duffer Re: the matches being way too short on RAW, but as Corrin says Smackdown has been great for quite some time now.

Yeah but to me Triple H was even a pretty poor face on the whole in 2002 when he came back from injury. You can't really compare 98 Trips to now, because all Triple H did in that main event was smile and pat Mike Tyson on the shoulder as if "haha you rule man, isn't this great."

All I'm really saying is that the Raw main event (everything about it, the match, the storyline, the face turn) was some of the ****test TV I've seen in a while.

I'll try and catch a Smackdown and see how it is.

well.. the wrestling business by itself is like neither here nor there right? You want storyline fuelled action, sentiment and comedy there are the movies to go to.. And for actual physical competition, there is always boxing and now MMA... Wrestling is kinda caught between the two.


And the boom that happened was because it was something new for the fans of that time. An actual competition between two organizations meant that the product was going to be fresh somehow, or atleast, it gave the impression of being fresh and of having something "happen" every weekend. Eric Bischoff talks about how he did many things "just to piss WWF(E) off" during the Monday Night Wars. There is no way the bloke didn't know that doing main event level matches week after week on monday nights was not sustainable or that doing 2 TV shows with main event matches every week apart from a PPV every month and a whole host of house shows in between would not tax the talent.


WWE is now caught in its own web. From my perspective, scoring 3.5 TRP is the best WWE can hope for at this point and it has to try and remain relevant as a source of entertainment somehow. Whether it means scaling down the product to juz one weekly show and a PPV every month and slowly somehow go back to the old idea of NOT having too many big matches on their weekly show or giving more time off to the talent every year to rest and recuperate... What is going on right now is simply NOT sustainable..

TBF I didn't mind the segment anyway as pretty much anything including Jericho & Shawn has me going crazy for it - but I'd say you probably chose just a couple of weeks too early to give wrestling your first go for a few years. You'll remember from all your years watching wrestling how hot it is from the Rumble to Mania, but the period between the December PPV and Rumble can be a bit filler, especially as because 30 men are in the Rumble there are less matches to build up to. So because of this they've had a different angle of Jericho trying to get on Raw each week, and this was just another one of those.

The TNAWrestlingNews.com website is now confirming that former WWE performer Ken Anderson (a/k/a Mr. Kennedy) will be debuting with TNA Wrestling next week, according to company sources.

According to the TNAWrestlingNews.com source, Anderson will either debut at Sunday's Genesis as the 'Major TNA Wrestling Superstar Acquisition' teased on Thursday's iMPACT!, or he will debut at the following night's television taping.

Current plans call for Anderson to debut at Genesis, but should the company decide to hold out, he will debut at the following evening's television tapings.

Either way, Anderson will debut with TNA next week.

Another WWE cast off maybe, but at least he is talented and marketable, should be a good move.

MRR KENNNEDDYYY.........KENNNEDDYYY. Used to love his entrance on the Smackdown games, used to look epic. Good signing I think, he left the 'E when I was watching TNA every week, and I was hoping he'd join then, but it never seemed to happen. Solid boost to the roster I think. Hope he's allowed to stick with the Mr Kennedy character though, the TNA-made characters are never as good. Check Kip James for details.

Monty Sopp was arguably never good in any promotion tbf. Even if he does have the somewhat dubious honour of being part of the highest rated segment in Smackdown history.

I never minded him tbf, but he was one of the biggest flops to ever win King of the Ring. The segment in question is Billy and Chuck's big gay wedding. Which is pretty funny, in some strange stupid way.

Watching abit of TNA atm, not brilliant. So clearly setting up a Hogan vs Jarrett match for some time in the near future. Don't reckon I'll be getting back into watching it regularly for a while yet.

I hated them as well, but at the same time, looking back it was probably just becuase they did a good job as being heels.

Haha nah I loved Chuck and Billy. Saw them live in Singapore and was the only one cheering them in the whole arena I reckon.
