Bit of myth that Akmal senior is good enough to play purely as a batman. Maybe for Pakistan but he isn't top five material for a good test outfit. If you want a sacrificial lamb, then you could get him opening or have him at three but if he can't catch, then you might as get a 'real' batsman in the side.

He's got to be better than Farhat, Iqbal, Butt and Misbah so I don't know where you're pulling these four 'real' batsmen from.

He's not a particularly great batsman but I do think he's good enough for Pakistan.

I know Yousuf can't (and shouldn't) throw his teammate under the bus publicly but he better have been on the phone right after the post match conference telling the selectors to send over another keeper ASAP.

That was horrendous keeping, no way a professional cricketer at any level could get away with keeping like that. If you're a subcontinental keeper, and you can't keep to the spinners, I don't even know how you get anywhere near the Test side. That's the biggest mystery for me.

Parthiv Patel skipped FC, apparently, in the wise eyes of the Indian selection, you don't actually need to play professional cricket before playing Tests.

It's rare that you can say that a player cost his side a Test match.

However, it can be said of Kamran Akmal.

So basically if Akmal had any confidence left as a wicketkeeper, it's gone now. This isn't exactly the most typical of emergency call-ups.

If Pakistan stopped selecting on seniority and nepotism they may uncover four batsman, definitely enough talent given how dominate their U19 sides are.

Love how pakistan always has an EMERGENCY call up during a tour. Mishbah in NZ and now Younis and Sarfraz in Aus. IMO the problem is the men at the top more so than the players, they're talented but they get screwed around a lot if they have one bad game all of a sudden theres an emergency and another player must be called up all the way from Pakistan because they just cant trust the player to play another test because they screw up and it'll all be so terrible. What the 'brains' trust of Pakistan need to start doing is stop thinking like a fan and stop and chill out for a minute to think. Perhaps the players should ask for an emergency call up for a new brains trust.

I've been saying this for years that not only Yousuf,Misbah and Kamran but also Butt,Farhat Kaneria,Sami,Shoaib Malik & Afridi should be dropped permanently.But they manage to become part of the team because "demand" of some idiot Pakistani fans & use of unfair means i.e 'Sifarish'.

And I couldn't stop laughing when Kaneria said to mediapersons that he's Pakistan's best spinner ever after crossing Abdul Qadir's tally of 236 wickets.IMO,he's Pakistan's worst spinner ever.Infact twice or probably thrice as worst as any other in Pakistan's hisory.And Akmal is without any doubt Pakistan's worst wicket keeper ever as well.Your batting should not be a reason to keep you in the team if you can't keep even if you have a batting average of 50.Our changed team could be consisting of tese players.

Mate, lets face it.....Pakistani team does not deserve Test Status. Lets be very serious and frank about this. These players are a bunch of clowns....remember the old days when people used to throw rocks at Akram's or Waqar's or Inzi's or Saleem's homes after losing to India, I say burn down PCB/Selectors homes this time around...

You know i don't blame our players. They simply can't compete at this level. Akmal/Misbah/Farhat/Butt/Faisal are not Test level players.....we have to blame those who put them in the Test team and expect results....

I agree that some of the players are not test material..namely Farhat, Butt, Iqbal, Sami. But replacing them with even worse players is a joke. Have you seen Khurram Manzoor? I have seen him against Sri Lanka. He is worse than these jokers. Fawad Alam has awfully poor technique for a top order batsman..he shuffles so far across..the likes of Siddle and Bollinger will have a field day getting him out lbw. Shoaib Mallik is not a batsman of test class either. Thats why you will find that nor do I expect anything from these jokers nor do I criticize them much. When a target is 170, I expect the so called "one of the best batsmen" with an average of 54 to go out there, and play the anchor role, hold the innings together and win the match..and when he fails which he always does..I reserve my criticism for him.

Kaneria is definitely overrated. People expect him to win matches for Pakistan each time the pitch turns a little and he fails every time. He will get an absolutely inconsquential 7/188 and commentators and fans will start raving about it..'oh what a performance" not realizing that it made no impact as he conceded 188 runs and the opposition managed 500.

Asim Kamaal is defintely a better batsman than Misbah..and he and Younis should replace Yousuf and Misbah. Both should retire from test cricket with immediate effect. Other than that..the team is fine..when you have such a poor first class system..you will produce pathetic batsmen..so you just have to pick the least pathetic ones from them and Farhat and Butt are relatively less pathetic than Nasir Jamshed and Khurram Manzoor.

PCB is playing politics with him..doing everything they can to end his career. He was not given a central contract, and he had two major knee operations last year..which the PCB refused to pay for..fair enough as he hardly played for Pakistan..but he now that he is saying he is fit and raring to go..PCB denied him a place in the domestic Pentagular Cup.

Why want Shoaib Akhtar.. bowlers did a decent job.. it was fielding, bating and wicket keeping that let pakistan down..

I think the combination of Gul, kaneria, Aamer and asif pretty strong..Pakistan should stay with that..

There is news that Aamer is going to be fit for the next test.. in case he didn't.. then i think sami deserve another shot.. he is in a good forum.. i won't be surprise he may play the next test instead of gul. not that i would like that..
