Don't see why Sharapova gets singled out for obnoxious grunting. Venus is pretty loud tonight. If you grunt like Seles, should get stabbed like her too.

I can never understand why Safina is number one.

Her opponent has impressed me so far though, fully deserved to win that first set. I'll be remembering the name Lisicki.

She wins a ****load of matches. Makes a lot of finals, and wins the ones that aren't in Grand Slams. She's a choker, but rankings works on your wins and losses.

She's made 3 of the last 5 Grand Slam finals.

**** you Channel 9 for cutting in the middle of the first set of the Safina/Lisicki match. Just go straight to live coverage ffs.

Notice Safina and Marat have never be seen together?

Besides the womens rankings are all pretty academic, given they don't reflect the reality that it's Serena, then daylight, then Venus, then more daylight back to the pack of Warsaw Pact types who can't serve.

Other than playing at the Hopman Cup together multiple times :p

Anyway, comparing Dinara Safina's looks to Marat is an insult to the ***iness of Marat.

Interesting you say that, considering more different women win Grand Slams, and have done for a long time, compared to the Federer/Nadal show.

Not really, because that's reflected in the rankings...
Yeah I originally cut out the rankings bit in the quote of Matt's post, and just mentioned "the Serena and Venus and then daylight of the rest", but it read poorly.

My point was that 4 individuals have dominated tennis over the last 5 years, its just that two of them are women opening schools in Kenya, running their own clothing line and boycotting major tournaments on racial grounds, whilst the other two are men who play tennis all year.

Victoria Azarenka is going to be something special in a few years. Reckon she'll lose to Serena tonight, but she often plays well against her.

Needs to just get her head right when she's not playing well. Should have beat Safina at the French earlier this year.

Has a grunt that lasts so long.

BARNES OUT
Also, getting the itch to play Smash Court Tennis 2 on PS2 again. Might crank it out, play an exhibition with Henman against Roddick on Hard. On grass of course, gotta make it challenging.

Do any men play today at all? If not, all the womens matches seem to have started fairly early.
Nope. All Women's QFs today, all men's tomorrow.

****ing best game. Remember when it came out during Wimbledon 2004.

Safin is a beast in the game. And Hewitt never tires... ever.

Only better tennis game was Super Tennis

Loved playing that on SNES, particularly international flights with SNES :D

Serena, what a champ. Was down a break in the 2nd set, and then just dominated from there on.

C9 showing a cool "changing of the guard - Sampras vs. Federer" doco right now.

Cheers for the heads up, was fantastic to watch again.

Yeah, I know, but I don't understand how she does that. It could just be that I've picked bad times to watch her, but whenever I've seen her play she's looked poor.

Admittedly she did well to come back and win last night, but I'm still far from convinced.

Gunnest game ever, am off work sick at the moment so dusted it off for a game yesterday arvo. Too easy even on the hardest level though. Usually as a challenge I play as Kournikova vs Roddick on Grass.
