England are through
India, South Africa, newzealand & now England 've qualified
Westindies almost 've qualified also
Scotland are out
So For Group E India,South Africa & England are certain
For Group F Newzealand are through
1 team from Netherlands & Pakistan 'll be in group F

Theoretically India could still go out on NRR if Bangladesh wallop Ireland, who in turn destroy India. Not very likely, admittedly, but mathematically possible.

No, because

a) Netherlands won by 1 run
b) Every run Pakistan win by is also a "minus run" for the Netherlands.

So Netherlands have a 49 run gap, divided by two is 25 runs.
Sure?

It's not the difference in runs, but the difference in runs per ball. I think, therefor, the allowed difference is 32 runs. I did the math in excel and come to 32......

Edit: Never mind 24,5 it is. 25 won't do for NL, 24 will!

Nah. It doesn't matter because it's the same quotient everywhere.

If Pakistan bat first and win, both teams face 20 overs, so you divide all runs, both for and against, by 40 before subtracting. So you should get the same result whether you subtract directly or divide by 40.

Edit: Yup, you got it.

I'm pretty glad we picked up against Pakistan. Was appalled watching us against Holland/Netherlands.

Cricinfo has a breaking news title about Abdul Qader quiting as pakistan's cheif selector.. for some reason it doesn't give more news... anyone confirm that plz..

Younis khan picked side of his own choice & said he would quit if team is not what he wants
now they're losing, Abdul Qadir being one of our legends, didn't want people to point him for something he didn't do
so he quits
but i guess at a wrong time, he could 've done that after the team comes home

Ah well, what difference does one day make? ;)

Well he could 've just waited for team to reach home & then resign
i mean, already team is under pressure, whoever is been picked in the side, still he's representing Pakistan, this sort of news 'll push them in more pressure
by the way just 1 thing i want to share here, anyone who follows pakistan cricket, does know there's always a good game after a bad game
not sure against netherlands cuz Pakistani team is in poor form, any day Pakistan can beat them easily, but pressure of must win & with big margin 'll not be an easy thing

That's ironic given his (a)pathetic comments after Pakistan got trashed yesterday. Although I've no doubt there was some political motivation involved.

as usual......pakistan still are out of practice. but what i really think needs to be changed is their opening batsmen. the first 6 powerplay overs are CRUCIAL in 20-20 cricket, and their first 5 batters, butt, shezad, akmal, malik, and even younus khan are just not attacking enough. it seems none of them have a the strength to hit the ball over for a boundry.

england have kp
west indies have chris gayle
south africa and india have many!

i think pakistan should just open with misbah and afridi. i know afridi is missin the ball but them batters are the key for pakistan, and just allow them to do as much damage in the first 6 overs to take pressure off the other batters while they can jsut make the quick singles and doubles after the powerplay session.

its the only hope pakistan have atm with this squad....;.

well played england, im so glad they got through. they make the world cup much more interesting

Just watched it again with the young bloke.
Now safely recorded on the same disc as England 1- Australia 3, so if I get depressed on a cold winters night I now have a couple of things to cheer me up.

"Dad, no one though they'd win but they did. It's a miracle! He missed the stumps! I don't believe it, it's hilarious"
Gold.

I think Holland will beat Pakistan personally.

They are a shambolic team with a number of players not good enough to play international cricket.

How long is this going to last? Lol

It was a great result, and probably gave us the kick up the ass we needed too. It's great Holland (And Ireland) are through to the Super 8's. As a neutral, you have to love their enthusiasm and hard work in the field. I wouldn't put it past you to take another scalp before the tournament is finished.
