Well given its clear ENG will be up againts IND, SA in the Super Eight. They need to be able to adjust their formation alternatively if they want to beat those sides.

The bowling attack that defeat Pakistan will be needed againts IND & SA no doubt. But i worry the batting wont be enough especially if early wickets fall. Just have to hope for the best...

Well deep in the lower order. No depth in batting quality though. Get 2-3 key wickets and England will really struggle.
Its a bit like SRI batting line-up in a way. It could very well & backfire but could get ENG far in this tournament due to the depth in bowling.

Against India the strategy is simple. Get Dhoni in early and don't get him out. Easy victory.

It would be sad if we don't make it, but I have never attached too much importance to Twenty20 cricket, as it is fun cricket. I mean it is more for entertainment, even if it is international cricket. It is all for the crowd.
---- Younus Khan.

Why bother to turn up then? Worrying attitude indeed.

For the fun; for the crowd. As he said.

TBH, I actually agree with him. I'm starting to enjoy watching Twenty20 cricket more and more, but I think part of that is because I don't have hang-ups about what I think should happen, who I think is good and who I want to win. There's no real context of results - you pick a team at the start of the game and cheer them on. That's the concept. It doesn't mean you shouldn't try to win and it doesn't mean you shouldn't pick the best team available to you, but it's not the end of the world if you lose, IMO.

I don't think it proves a lot and I don't think the results are particularly important. A lot of people disagree and that's fair enough, but I personally don't think there's a lot wrong with how Younis views it.

I am not against his "fun comment", but his comment that "he does not attach much importance to it". This coming from the captain in a T20 world cup is indeed cringeworthy. If he himself does not take it seriously. nobody expects the team members to either.

Yeah, I don't really take an issue with him not attaching importance to the results though, nor the rest of his team. I'm sure they'll play to win but I don't think there should be any tears shed if they lose.

I've watched every game - I've actually changed my sleeping patterns to do so - but I don't take the results seriously at all. How can I expect the players to?

Well, fans are not really expected to take games seriously, but players, being the professionals they are, are expected to. How can a team strive to win if they are not serious about the results? But good thing that Younis spoke frankly than the usual "We will not be taking the <opposition minnow team> lightly. We will go out and give our best" cliche. But sometimes as captains you just have to speak cliche.

How many of you truly believe he doesn't give much importance to the T20 world cup? Before the world cup every one in the Pakistan team said they wanted to go one step better than last time. I am pretty sure he would have a lot to answer to if they return after one round.

There is no way anyone, even the staunchest T20 hater, could justify Younis actually saying that though, whether he believes it or not. Firstly, you know he wouldn't say it had they been winning. And secondly, its a slap in the face to the fans.

Because they are paid professionals representing their nation.
