Quiney is all class. Don't be so foolish as to judge a player on their first few matches in a new country. Carseldine is also very good but he might also have the same trouble at adapting.

Still, has a rubbish T20 record for Victoria too. In all other cases, Rajasthan seem to be playing the T20 specialists. So I don't get why not in this one.

Rubbish record? Maybe overall as he's new but look at his record from last season, was quite good and he's one of the classiest limited overs players on the domestic circuit in Aus. Don't be so quick to dismiss.

Rubbish T20 record except in 2008-9.

I don't doubt he's a good limited overs player, but I do think T20 is different. And I think recognising that was Rajasthan's strength last year.

Which indicates he's had a slow start to the career but it's finally taken off recently. Not sure why anything above the recent is relevant at all when a player has clearly gone to the next stage. Bit like brining Flintoff career stats and saying he's a crap bowler. Not all players can hit the ground running in the IPL and I respect Warne for sticking with him.

Well to me it looks like he had a single good knock.

His innings today was dastardly, 28 from 31, and let his team get well behind the runrate.

Yeah, I suppose. I'd just like to see a bit of a shake-up somewhere in the batting before it's too late for the semis, because Yusuf apart it's been awful. And from what I've seen, Quiney, Smith and Asnodkar probably the most vulnerable.

Actually, looking at Quiney in more detail, he doesn't strike the fastest, SR of 125 last season. Perhaps the problem is more the combination of Smith and Quiney, that they're both people who do the same kind of job. Maybe just pick whichever of Smith and Quiney is the best fielder, and then look to add in someone who is a bit more of a hitter.

The Royals need batting strength, but they've gone the other way by getting in Siddharth Trivedi for a batsman. Clearly, it didn't help, as he didn't do much in the game. Their bowling has been acceptable even if they had Yusuf Pathan bowling four overs regularly, but their batting has just not got enough runs.

Experts go on and on about how they're missing Watson and Tanvir, but out here, only Yusuf has delivered, while other top batsmen from the last season have failed. Here, we see a definite lack of striking power. Graeme Smith is struggling for form, while Asnodkar's extra aggression is offset by his small size in facing steep bounce in South Africa. Ravindra Jadeja appears to be a very ugly T20 batsman, so much that he's struggling to hit the big shots and only plays along the ground for singles. Mascarenhas has struggled to get back to the form he was in when he hit five sixes off Yuvraj, and has often missed the ball. We can't comment on Rob Quiney, who's still fresh and new.

With Kamran Khan likely to miss a match due to injury, there may be scope for a fresh change in the XI. Niraj Patel should get a game. They can do themselves a lot of good by recalling Mohammed Kaif, like KKR did when they recalled a medium-pacer.

It's good to see Raina come close to a century, given the lack of big scores by Indians in this tournament. Disappointing to see him two short, though. This could have launched his Test match aspirations, as we find T20 hundreds scored only by Test match regulars, not the T20 hit-and-giggle stereotypes.

Balaji's four wickets for not too many should give him a chance for MOM, surely.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. The problem with batting through (in ODIs too but moreso in T20) is that when you try to do it you usually get out anyway, and end up with an innings of 15 off 20 that puts big pressure on the lower order to score quick from ball one. Then, when it comes off, you still pressurise everyone around you to deal with the burden of upping the run-rate even when they're not well set- and a 70 off 60 isn't exactly a match-winning knock anyway.

Smith can really accelerate when well-set, and given the vulnerability of the RR batting so far I'd keep him in there. But more than one player like that in a T20 side won't cut it. The one player who really confuses me with his presence is Jadeja. Looking at this match, he came to the crease needing a run-rate of around 8 and ended up killing any chance RR had of making a small total with a quite simply far too slow 37 off 44. If he's no use when seeing the side home in tricky chases of fairly small totals, what exactly is he there for? If he can't up the run-rate when his team desperately need to to have any chance at all of winning, will he ever be able to? A little harsh on a good young player, but i guess i don't really see the point of him in this T20 side.

Raina striking some form! 98 of 55, I can imagine how he would have played .... Will chk the highlights if I can find some time

on the other hand, RR can consider playing a specialist overseas batsman in place of Dimi. I know Dimi is performing well with the ball but RR needs a decent batsman badly

Trouble is if they get rid of him who do they open the bowling with?

They need a lot more from the Indian players, they foreign players can't do everything.
