Hopefully you're guys are right but it's easy to say these things (this guy is a great hitter, this guy is a great striker) but then it just doesn't seem to happen with this team!
Yeah but sometimes other teams are just better.

Bangalore cannot really say that their Best XI is better than Delhi's, Hyderbad's, Chennai. Even Mumbai's (though I don't think they're that good) and Punjab's best XI until recently were clearly better. Now Bangalore have closed the gap.

Kolkata is a clear example of a team with a bad culture, because their XI should be damn good. Clearly unrest/not giving a **** going on with them.

True, there aren't any all time great limited overs players like Tendy, Hayden, Gilchrist, Warne like some of the other sides have, plus the locals aren't very good and yeah other XIs are better but that doesn't eally excuse some of the performances, especially from players which are supposed to be really good in the format. And hey, not having a top XI didn't bother Rajasthan too much last year. Not really sure what my point is anymore.

Haha that's why I accidentally left out Rajasthan in my post I guess. I must have subconciously left out Rajasthan to not ruin my point.

While the Mumbai and Punjab teams are waiting to play the next game. Harbhajan and Yuvraj are doing their own bit to keep the crowd entertained. They are engaging themselves with some funny banter.

Lol, what's that about.
They were making some funny signals to each other while smiling no sooner after they were shown on tv. Just a bit of harmless fun.

Most sides in the IPL are way too reliant on their openers.

Anyways, didn't expect this from Mohali.
Well, Delhi have had their openers failing "most consistently" and yet the middle order has come to their rescue time and again.

Most teams have at least one successful middle order batsman. Have a look at this. I have taken the two best middle order batsmen of the six teams at the top of the table as of now.

Code:
[B]Team	Middle Duo	Avg	Str Rate[/B]

Delhi	ABV/Dilshan	75.5	150
Punjab	Sanga/Bopara	33.7	113
Deccan	Rohit/Smith	31.2	138
Royals	Pathan/Jadeja	30.1	123
B'lore	Dravid/Kallis	29.8	127
[COLOR="DarkRed"]Mumbai	Duminy/Nayar	28.0	121[/COLOR]
They have not just the lowest combined average (boosted considerably by Duminy's knock yesterday) they are also the second lowest in strike rate inspite of Nayar's reputation as a big hitter. Even the "Test" batsmen pair of Kallis and Dravid are above them.

Whats even more worrying for Mumbai is that while other teams have at least one other batsman with potential who is likely to strike any time (Yuvraj, Pietersen, Laxman and the openers for Delhi), Mumbai has almost no great names to fall back upon.

The Mumbai batting is looking frail as far as depth is concerned.

It was a very tight match that could have gone either way. Punjab have found their bowling combination, and Ramesh Powar will be crucial. Irfan and Yusuf have formed a capable opening combination, while Vik Malik is a good choice as a change bowler. Their batting does look a little thin and will get thinner once Bopara leaves, but they've got batting all the way down to ten. That made a difference here. A team loaded with India prospects can't be too far behind.

Mumbai may be wondering what let them down. Not surprisingly, their filler bowlers were again a weak link, way behind the top four. Malinga, Zaheer, Bravo and Bhajji were good, but the filler overs showed some chaos and instability. Duminy bowled two good overs and one went for too many. That may have taken the game away from Mumbai on an impossible pitch, and they'll have to think about that for the next match. They will miss Bravo a little, and will need the likes of Mills and Dilhara shortly. Their batting looks good at the top but the middle depends far too much on Duminy- Dhawan needs to get going in the middle, and they need to take a call on Abhishek Nayar. He's an all-rounder for the state team and did very well in four overs against Kolkata, but has largely been half a bit player here.

What does Rahane have to do to make the Mumbai Indians playing XI? Maybe dominate another Ranji season, I guess.

Mumbai suffered the fate of batting second under lights. Teams in this IPL don't seem to be winning much in this regard. Tendulkar found it tougher batting in these conditions than in the sunlight during the day.

What is with Hyderabad batting Venugopal Rao at 7 in a T20 match?

If you are going to play Rao and Badrinath (for Chennai), bat them in the right position.

DD breaks DC unbeaten run .... Dilshan once again plays a key role. He is the in-form player. Sehwag-Gambhir have to pick their games. One can imagine that Delhi will only get stronger once these two start firing
