Yeah a generation of fast bowlers coming through with supect actions under the old rules had nothing to do with the rule changes. The search for extra pace from fast bowlers and effects it had on actions was the main reason.
Can't be agreeing with that, IMO the vast majority of actions have always been chucks even though they don't look that way. Glenn McGrath chucked under the old rules, and noone had a less suspicious action than him. The point was that it's almost impossible to bowl without bending your elbow 5-10 degrees.

"(1) Don't chuck the ball.
(2) If it appears to zaremba that you've chucked it, zaremba shall have the right to shout at the telly "He's F-ing chucking it!"

Alternatively, keep a percentage rule but reduce the percentage substantially below 15% which as we all know was introduced to allow Murali to keep playing. There are some truly appalling actions which have been given the all-clear under the 15% rule.

I think you will find that most bowlers would still be fine under the old rules of 10 degrees. The whole notion that everyone chucked under old rules was the rules prior when there was no degrees aspect at all and therefore even 1 degrees was classfield as chuck technically.

If it was put back to 10 degrees majority of guys with clean actions would still be fine. It only really the guys that you can see a flexing with slow mos that would be between 10-15. Though technically you can't see those guys in real speed.

When I watch guys like Botha and Tait they only look bad in slow mos. In real speed I think their actions are fine.

Guys like Bird, Murali and Razzaq who look bad in real speed are you should be concerned about. Though with Razzaq no really noticed until they took side on profiles and a lot of those replays were slow mos.

I think it does look suspect to me, pretty dodgy, but then again if the dacoit from Sri Lanka can carry on playing on international cricket, then I'm not going to gripe about PE's finest being allowed the gig as well..

Having a problem with Murali's action does not equal anti-Asian biased whingers stuff.

What can explain usage like "dacoit" then? And what has Murali got to do with Botha's action? It is almost trolling as Murali's action has been tried, tested, re-reported, tried, re-tested, whinged, records, more-whinge.

As has Botha's. They are both off-spinners who have had their actions tested and cleared.

Now, the language may not have been favourable, but to say that, as another off spinner with a bent arm, if Murali's action is legal then I can see how Botha's is also allowed, even if I think it looks suspect - is understandable.

I don't know of him being officially reported. Obviously doubts have been raised, specifically by NZ, but I would be extremely surprised if he did have an illegal action.

It is almost like ranting about Lehmann's black **** usage in each and every thread about Harbhajan Singh, and it is getting jarring.

And the language used is atrociously poor. Dacoit is such a stupid and unconnected usage, and imho requires at least an explanation. Extremely poor form from you, Vic, to defend that.

I call Symonds, or Harbhajan, or Hayden names all the time. It's not a big deal. You can ignore it, or dispute it. It's not something that ought to be moderated. He expressed his opinion, which was certainly related to the thread. E.g, he thinks both Murali and Botha chuck, but if one can stay, so should the other. It's completely relevant.

Dacoit is a viled term like monkey to Symonds. Even Google's first suggestion looks like this:

Not flattering anyway, with a strong subcontinental tinge to it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dacoity

The word Dacoity is the anglicized version of the Indian word dakaitee (डकैती or ڈکیتی or ডাকাতি) which comes from Dakoo (डाकू or ڈاکو, meaning "armed robber") or Dakat
It is as region specific as usage of Kafir imho.
