Sheesh, that's almost Perera-Lord's-2002-esque. IIRR that was estimated (to the nearest 5 degrees) at 35.

Perera was one guy accused of chucking I'd never thought looked particularly bad, actually. Although i never saw the match in question so maybe it was one particular spell.

"We were confident that he was not chucking"

:laugh::laugh:

Well...he was, that's why he can't bowl the doosra any more I presume. What happens now if he bowls the doosra in the game? Can the umpires call him? Or does he get reported again?

And can the batsman point out a doosra if he receives one that wasn't called? Lots of fun and games to be played out here you'd think.

So how does Australia go about getting back the wickets it created during the series now? Can we have a replay? :happy: I'm sure the ICC would respond positively to a strongly-worded letter.
He claims he hasn't actually bowled it much during the past year and didn't even bowl it during the match in which he was called for chucking. Also apparently this is common, then in a little while he bowls the doosra legally, they pass it, then it degenrates into chucking again over time.

Yeah, it was. That Test it was, well, impossibly obvious, even just based on slo-mo 2D replays. But no-one, before or since, ever had a problem with him, and he'd been playing for ages.

I don't know if there's any footage of that Test anywhere, because I don't have any to show, but it really was pretty awful.

I imagine, given it'll be pretty obvious to anyone on TV, that the Referee will report him if he bowls one and he'll receive a six-month ban or something.

Kinda like the situation where people are let out on bail with a curfew, which if they break, they get put into custody.

think this was the case with harbhajan's doosra also ..but see him bowling that a lot now
They should have to have the problem delivery tested again before they can go anywhere near it. The idea that they just wait until the smoke settles and away we go is ridiculous.

If he bowls it in a match it should be treated like an illegal delivery in my opinion (along the lines of a warning from the umpire) and if he bowls it twice he's off for the match. If he just has to be reported again and is allowed to bowl it through the match that's very poor.

You'd hope that he has enough respect for the game, the law and his own long-term interests to not sacrifice anything for the sake of one delivery, one match. I'll be very surprised if he's silly enough to send down a Doosra any time soon, given that he's been specifically told by the authority figures not to bowl it and has agreed to comply.
