James Kirtley?Keep your arm straight.
We all know who chucks the ball: Murali, Botha, Shabbir, etc etc. Those who are cleared simply demonstrate by their continued presence in the game that the 15% rule is ludicrous.
Ramrod straightJames Kirtley?
Have wondered this more than once myself. If a lad with Murali's action had turned up to play my school questions would've been asked. Whatever one's feelings, it looks shocking.I've always wondered about Murali- how did he ever get to the level of playing international cricket? It's okay at that stage when we can say, "nah he's passed several scientifically rigorous tests including bowling with his arm in a brace, it's just an illusion" but at school, club and FC level why was he not called on it all the time? Seems strange to me.
Need a tissue? Clearly the greatest bowler in both major forms of the game. He doesn't need to prove himself, just let the non-subcontinental fans whinge as long as they want to.Keep your arm straight.

Best rule."(1) Don't chuck the ball.
(2) If it appears to zaremba that you've chucked it, zaremba shall have the right to shout at the telly "He's F-ing chucking it!"
Botha's action looks ****ing terrible. I've said that on numerous occasions.Keep your arm straight.

Would not have been any questions asked, it would've been a case of "Sorry but that's not quite how you do it. Come here and we'll teach you how to bowl not throw.''Have wondered this more than once myself. If a lad with Murali's action had turned up to play my school questions would've been asked. Yep, just like Aaron Bird.Would not have been any questions asked, it would've been a case of "Sorry but that's not quite how you do it. Come here and we'll teach you how to bowl not throw.''
Yeah at the end of day if you have the ability to be better then average, then more often then not people will let you keep bowling with your crap actions. It is only the average bowls that ever get caught out and told to fix their actions.Yep, just like Aaron Bird.
Someone will always slip through the net (but even Bird has been sent to rehab more times than Amy Winehouse)Yep, just like Aaron Bird.
I guess that why they tried to fix his action when he was at school, but once they realised he couldn't natural straighten his arm they let him go.In Murali's case, his action "looks" so bad that I doubt whether he'd have survived junior cricket without any number of coaches trying to teach him how to "bowl" - some will say that's a good thing, others will say it's a travesty
Your knee-jerk reaction is very wide of the mark.Clearly the greatest bowler in both major forms of the game. He doesn't need to prove himself, just let the non-subcontinental fans whinge as long as they want to.
I admit that this may be right - I've not seen a close analysis of it.Botha's action looks ****ing terrible. I've said that on numerous occasions.
However, he doesn't straighten his arm in his delivery AFAIC.
There's nothing in the rules to prevent anyone from bowling with a bent arm.
The rules weren't moulded to suit Murali. Murali had one of his deliveries banned and when they found out everyone chucked the rules were moulded to suit everyone else.1. I like and respect Murali a lot. He's quite obviously a great of the game. It's not his fault the rules have been moulded to suit him. I'm not suggesting he needs to "prove himself".
Yeah a generation of fast bowlers coming through with supect actions under the old rules had nothing to do with the rule changes. The search for extra pace from fast bowlers and effects it had on actions was the main reason. The rules weren't moulded to suit Murali.
