Hah, no disrespect to Sachin. But Ponting will pass him. May even get 50 test hundreds.
At the End of Year 2006, Ponting 33 100s, Tendulkar 35
At the End of Year 2007, Ponting 33 100s, Tendulkar 37
At the End of Year 2008, Ponting 37 100s, Tendulkar 41

Doesn't look like a Guarantee.

Speaking of Channel 9, they just said if the Saffies have to bat now, they can't do much - they should just intend to survive.

Do they mean that there's no point "getting in?" Because surely you can knock a few runs off the total, that's gotta be good.
Anything the channel 9 commentary team says should be taken with a good dollop of salt - it helps in keeping it down.

SA will bat as they please. If the runs are there take them, if not, survive and come back tomorrow. They have 10 wickets, a still good wicket, and all the time in the world.

Edit/ As you say. It has to be good.

Thanks for that Sanz. Did not know it had been so close over the last three years.

I still think though, based on age and longevity, that Ponting will pass Sachin. Although I do agree that 50 test hundreds is an outside possibility, and extremely unlikely.

Btw, I do consider Sachin to be the better bat.

Ponting went a full year without a 100?

Watching Johhners bat

Australia might have stumbled upon a good bowling allrounder in Johnson. All the more case for booting out Symonds and bring in Hilfenhaus or Bollinger.
