New Zealand, if they can hang on in the one-dayer...Awesome day. Who walks away with the honours?
Definitely South Africa, with only one woefully out of touch batsman left at the crease on a 500+ pitch. Roles reversed, Australia would take that position in a heartbeat.Awesome day. Who walks away with the honours?
South Africa. Disciplined bowling performance considering the dropped catch, second wicket stand and Ponting's century.Awesome day. Who walks away with the honours?
That's the test for Clarke tomorrow, isn't it, he has been made the vice-captain of the side, he is the next captain waiting in the wings, but he would need to play a few innings of character to really prove it to everyone he has it in him to deserve such a huge honour, Clarke clearly isn't in silken form atm, he was virtually grinding out every run he scored today, it was almost Dravidesque.Comfortable South Africa's day.
This is similar to the Aus vs. SA Boxing Day Test of 2005, except:
a) Australia don't have a Mike Hussey to rescue their innings
b) They don't have Warne and McGrath to bowl SA out
One can't really accuse Clarke generally of getting bogged down and blocking one end up, because normally he is very good at playing the ball with soft hands and rotating the strike, at Perth and now at the G he has clearly been out of touch, the timing isn't there, the footwork is circumspect and all in all he isn't looking comfortable at the crease, to his credit he is still there and still has a chance to play an innings of substance here. After watching Clarke this afternoon, what has happened to the theory about turning the strike over ?. Any explanations as to why Clarke hasn't done this ?
Damian Fleming was on the radio, pointing out that the chances of taking a wicket increases with each consecutive maiden over bowled, then Symonds gets out !!
Australia needs someone to make a big score but staying at the crease without scoring doesn't help the cause.
Well, Punter would say it was Australia's day.Surprised to see so many of you guys saying South Africa. Punter made a comment saying that the score of 270~ was worth a fair bit more than that because of the long boundaries and slow outfields. So Australia are in a greater position than detatched observation of the numbers would suggest. Then again, there were many 4s run which somewhat compensates for Punter's argument.
lol lets h8 aus kkWell, Punter would say it was Australia's day.
