Should Haddin Be Dropped

He's averaging around 26, only difference being he's doing it in Test cricket, including 4 matches in India (Actually, only 1 match has been on home soil)
Indeed. I don't see how you could compare Haddin's performances with them this season given he hasn't played in that competition.

There's basically no chance that any of them would perform better than Haddin right now, IMO.

Haddin's position would be under threat right now if there was actually anyone close to his quality below him.

He could get six consecutive ducks from here on and drop the odd catch, and I'd still have more faith in him as a keeper/batsman at Test level than Ronchi.

Any calls for Haddin's head right now show complete ignorance of the current depth in the position IMO - he may not be great but he's certainly the best we have at the current time. I agree with Smitty that Paine's the next best but he really hasn't done a lot at all with the bat at First Class level yet and he's only started keeping full-time at that level in the last season and a half.
Fully AWTA for the record.

Well we will see what happens if he keeps going badly won't we ? he still deserves to be dropped adequate replacement or not he is not up to the level he should be.

Yes, he should be dropped immediately and the next guy should be given 2 tests to perform or he should go too. By the end of next year we may well see the keeper from Broken Hill 5th grade getting a crack.

Yeah you're right, especially without an adequate replacement, Aus should bring this guy in;

So Bangladesh should drop all their players because they're not up to the adequate level?

If there were plenty of other good options then yes I would definitely be considering it. He really needs to sort out his concentration as he has been making plenty of starts, and then proceeding to get out to soft dismissals like caught in the slips trying to drive.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
It's not like he's a liability with the bat, constantly making ducks or <10 scores.

His poorer performances with the bat have been highlighted because the top order has also been struggling so it becomes more noticeable that the guy coming in at 7 or 8 isn't making a big enough score to add to the5/6-140 total.

Although, actually, he did that in India a few times (made a good contribution when Australia were a few down for not a lot).

Has an awesome front foot defence I hear. Not so hot on when running between the wickets though, often runs his teammates out.

No. Give him a while before this even becomes an issue.

I'm pretty confident Haddin will make runs this summer anyway.

No, not really.
Well when you have a keeper who is letting more byes through then scoring runs and the only reason everyone can give is that there is not an adequate replacement then i think it is pretty obvious he does deserve to be dropped. I didn't say anything about whether the replacement would do a better job

Wow, can't believe people are saying he should be dropped. Perhaps some Aussies have been too spoilt by Gilchrist.

Would you like Tim Ambrose back? Or Geraint? ;)

I billeted with a keeper from Broken Hill, I can only recall his first name though. Can't remember what grade he played for. Poor bat, decent behind the stumps, should be in with a shout if Haddin fails.

Haddin hasn't had to good a start to Test Cricket, I've not been too impressed with him in ODI cricket either except for perhaps 2 or so innings.

Wonderful domestic player, no need to drop him, wait until the end of the South African series is over before re accessing his position in the side.

If the replacement wouldn't do a better job, then there's no sense in dropping Haddin.
