Should Haddin Be Dropped

Jakester1288

International Regular
Keep Haddin, for at least the summer, then re-assess our options.

He is the best keeper available to us, and not shabby by anyones standards. He batted decently in India, making a few 30 odds, when we were in trouble. He needs to bat 7 though, when he is 8 he doesn't get a chance to bat with any real batsmen, except for the one who is in from the top order when he comes to the crease. Then he only has the tail.

He has test centuries in him, if he has the time on his hand. Decide, Watson or Symonds, bat Symonds at 6, Haddin at 7, or Haddin at 6, and Watson at 7. Then name 3 quicks and a spinner, with Watson/Symonds, Katich and Clarke all giving spin and/or mediums if required.

International Captain
Never really looked comfortable in International cricket, can even go as far to say he's looked out of his depth on some occasions. Would be under pressure if he had a Haddin-to-Gilchrist like presence in his shadow, but I think he'll be safe for a few years even just scrapping out an average of 30, Wade will be the bolter in the next few seasons.

Haddin's a class act, and has waited for a while so deserves his chance. Should be given the next 4 tests as a bare minimum. The bigger question is who should be the reserve keeper on the Ashes tour.

Well we still have an australian domestic season, an IPL and half an english county season to find someone.

Wow, can't believe people are saying he should be dropped. Perhaps some Aussies have been too spoilt by Gilchrist.

Would you like Tim Ambrose back? Or Geraint? ;)
Tim Ambrose did poll well recently

Luke Ronchi 15 31.25%
Chris Hartley 4 8.33%
Tim Paine 6 12.50%
Graham Manou 4 8.33%
Matthew Wade 1 2.08%
Mike Hussey 7 14.58%
Tim Ambrose 11 22.92%

There is absolutely no way Haddin should be dropped any time soon. Hopefully he'll show why before long.

Norwood's on Fire
Yes, he should be dropped immediately and the next guy should be given 2 tests to perform or he should go too. By the end of next year we may well see the keeper from Broken Hill 5th grade getting a crack.
Hmm, who leaked the English wicketkeeper selection policy?

I don't know much about the quality of the back-up options, but I have to say there's nothing Haddin's ever done in tests or ODIs that's once made me think, yeah this chap has something about him.

He obviously suffers by the comparison to who preceeded him (as pretty much anyone would), but I haven't seen anything there to justify the near-universal faith our Aussie posters seem to have in him. His FC record strongly suggests ability, but generally Australian batsman of late have taken to tests like ducks to a cliche.

I seriously hope you watched the cricket today and ate plenty of humble pie.
