Australian Domestic Off-Season Thread 2008

Terrible move for Australian cricket. The last thing the SACAs needed was one of their strongest players leaving and the last thing QLD needed was another bits and pieces player.
Ignore his batting. Harris is a better bowler than heaps of bowlers Queensland picked last season.

Haha Harris goes to Queensland. I don't really know whether that's a good or a bad thing for Queensland, given their selection issues. For him personally, surely he'll be getting a game, but he won't be anywhere near as crucial to them as he would've been at the Deadbacks. I had to laugh at something Mark Sorell said that made me laugh, because it made so much sense: that the Deadbacks had the money to match QLD's offer but wouldn't because they have a performance-based pay system. That explains why they have so much freaking money in the first place.

You'd have to think they'll succeed in wooing the NSW quartet in the latest round of musical chairs involving the Blues. With the list NSW have set up for themselves, Mail, Lambert and Cooper at least would be absolutely stupid not to go.
If Cooper could string together a half decent grade season, there is no reason why he can't get ahead of Forrest and Khawaja. He really isn't far off making the XI especially with Haddin and Clarke away for most of season, if not all. With Jaques away for Tests as well. Personally think he should just back his ability to get ahead of Forrest and Khawaja and stay at a state going somewhere. Rather then a state that going downhill fast.

Don't know how you can go down hill when you're at the bottom of the hill.

Cooper averaged 12 in the 07-08 grade season. He wasn't getting near the side with numbers like that, and I'd say his rookie contract is certainly on the chopping block.

So someone bowled back of a length to him this season?

Nah, I know you've got mega-Cooper love Tharmi, but the other guys who are in front of him have plenty more runs on the board, metaphorically and physically, and I think a change of scenery may not be the worst thing for him.

On another note, I know that he has a Dutch mother and has spoken of heading over there if he feels he'll never crack it here...

Excuse my ignorance but what happened to Andy Blignaut?
Couldn't get a game for Tasmania, then couldn't get a game for Tasmania 2nd XI. Never dominated Tassie Grade. Went to play for rebel Zimbabwe tour side in England, Loins XI or something. Got a contract with a South African Franchise side, couldn't get a game again. Went back to play for Zimbabwe, then got injuried. Thats the long story.

Short story continued to get injuried and struggled for game time.

Anyone know much about those two keepers? Jack? Know a bit about Adam's brother, decent keeper average bat.

Nevill's had some pretty good seasons here. Seen as being a very good gloveman, but his batting is a little behind Crosthwaite and Wade. Very technically correct, and will always be a very good Grade batsman; hasn't ever made any real runs in 2nd XI though. He'll put some pressure on Smith.
