International Coach
Clinton Perren makes it again!

Surely he must have incriminating photos of the selectors or something.

Would rather them go for an unknown, promising 21 year old (assuming we have one!).

I always thought Damien Wright was quite under rated. A few years ago I thought he was potential Australian material.

First Class Debutant
It seriously opened my eyes to see clubs offering players money. I didn't know that happened before about yesterday.
that's about the going rate for a pro

we used to pay ryan campbell about the same + car for the 3 games he was available a year

Paine? Dawson as backup probably.
Dawson's first class scores in his two games last season were 0,0,0,1 @ 0.25 - I'd say probably a touch short of whats required of an opening batsman at First Class level. Still an awesome batsman but living off his FC debut performance, as he's done pretty much SFA since. Has the ability to average 50 at FC level but needs to sort out his head, wont be keeping for anyone bar the 2nd XI until he does.

He continues to dominate grade cricket and 2nd XI matches (where he is captain) so I wouldn't be surprised he gets a chance again. Also with DiVenuto retired and Lockeyar more know these days for his fielding then batting. He would be next in line and might be first choice if they play others in middle order.

Also Tasmania have a few other batsmen that can keep outside Dawson, I don't think he always keeps for the 2nd XI these days. But Paine and Clingeleffer played a bit for 2nd XI last season.

International Captain
I would prefer travis birt to open for tasmania,he is an opener, played under 19's as an opener for australia.
Dawson is a middle order batsmen, made to be an opener, better off in the middle order.
Tassie tried to sign nick kruger and usman khajah, but failed should have signed scott meulman instead he is talented.
Ckingeffers' career is gone.

Would love to see more of this tbh. Hopefully he's not a flop and can draw some crowds to Shield games. I certainly would be interested.
Really would you?

I'd rather watch Marsh, Pomersbach and Voges before seeing Younis Khan in a Shield match.
