I think we will see how good or bad Hopes is in the coming six months when he is likely to asked for play as more then just a bits and pieces player. Hopes is favorite ATM to take Gilchrist spot at the top of the order. Success or failure at that role will define where he truelly is as a players. Like most all rounders they always will look like a bits and pieces players until they are asked to player a more front line role. Personally I think he will fail to meet the requirements as International standard opener. But until he gets a chance to prove myself wrong. Then it is a tad harsh to label him as bits and pieces players until he gets a chance to play another role.

**** would be dire if we lost Cooper, they can have Thornely instead. Would love them to have Mail and Lambert.

Haha Harris goes to Queensland. I don't really know whether that's a good or a bad thing for Queensland, given their selection issues. For him personally, surely he'll be getting a game, but he won't be anywhere near as crucial to them as he would've been at the Deadbacks. I had to laugh at something Mark Sorell said that made me laugh, because it made so much sense: that the Deadbacks had the money to match QLD's offer but wouldn't because they have a performance-based pay system. That explains why they have so much freaking money in the first place.

You'd have to think they'll succeed in wooing the NSW quartet in the latest round of musical chairs involving the Blues. With the list NSW have set up for themselves, Mail, Lambert and Cooper at least would be absolutely stupid not to go.

I'm a bit stunned that Rhino left SA. He was one of the front-line bowlers here. Can't blame him for chasing a Pura Cup flag, though.

He was always on short-term contracts due to injuries too. I guess he got sick of it. The perception around the traps is that he's always a couple of games away from being out for the rest of the season.

Sad to say, but this is the last place you'd come if you're chasing a Pura Cup flag. Our batting is so dire. Every year, it's a perennial shuffle of the Titanic deck chairs - Perren, Reardon, Kruger, Nash, (insert nuffy), (insert nuffy).

Surprised more blokes haven't accepted offers, or at least approached, the SACAs. She's a damn good wicket down there, and you're a good chance of at least starting in the team at the beginning of the Summer. Surely, as the off season unfolds, they will manage to recruit some blokes.

Ryan harris signs for qld :-O .
Denton considering retiring.
Old news.

Be interesting to see what happens to Harwood - couldn't snaffle an offer for IPL, I'd say he'll probably head around again next season. Supposedly wants to move clubs though; already received big offers from subbies clubs.

Chris Rogers wants $12,000 and a car to play for a District club in Victoria.

It seriously opened my eyes to see clubs offering players money. I didn't know that happened before about yesterday.

Supposedly there's not much of it in Queensland, from memory, talking to guys who play up there (or who have played up there). I think there's a bit in NSW and in Melbourne there are restrictions, in terms of you are only allowed to pay two players. Not sure about other states.

Nasser Hussain did a stint with Adelaide Uni and was universally disliked. Was apparently given the use of a car, booked up hundreds in parking fines and never paid a cent of it. Plus, barely scored a run. haha

Terrible move for Australian cricket. The last thing the SACAs needed was one of their strongest players leaving and the last thing QLD needed was another bits and pieces player.
There's this bloke named Tait who's ready to slot into the side and take his place, though.
