***Official*** Sri Lanka in the West Indies

What the hell is a blackwash? Cricinfo has gone nuts?

A victory in the opening Test in Guyana has given Sri Lanka a golden opportunity to claim their first series win in the Caribbean. A win here would also give them a special record: they will become the first visiting side to complete a clean-sweep in the West Indies. Australia came close five years ago, when they won the first three Tests but a record-breaking chase in the final Test in Antigua snuffed out their hopes of a blackwash.

There is another line in that article too:

If Sri Lanka win this Test, they would be the first team to complete a blackwash in the Caribbean.

Didn't know that 'blackwash' and 'whitewash' had anything to do with home/away, tbh. Afaik, 'blackwash' is just the term used when West Indies or New Zealand whitewash a team.

Only heard it in terms of a West Indies side - just a play-on-words of a 'whitewash', which doesn't have anything to do with skin colour.

I'm so jealous of one of my friends right now. She went out to Trinidad at the weekend to see family for a week, and I was joking with her that she'll get dragged along to the Test match. She really has no idea about cricket or anything and just thinks it a strange obsession of mine.

So guess who's now going on Thursday...
Haha

Worst thing when your friends get to do things you want to do, when they don't really give a damn. Mate of mine's going to Canada and seeing the Blue Jays in the summer, but apparently they're just going for the hot dogs or something.

Blue Jays (y).

I got into them when they had Delgado, Batista, Gonzalez, Fullmer and co. Entertaining stuff.

It was Whitewash, then 'Blackwash' when WI won all the games in the series and then a further play on blackwash was 'Bokwash' after this

Hmm I guess I was wrong. I read about the West Indies teams of the 80's blackwashing the English 5-0 in England so I just assumed it was a home/away thing. Made sense to me, and still does. Didn't realize it was just a WI thing though. Interesting.

Mally does likes pace on the ball. West Indies should stop running in and just plonk it on the spot at 60mph:D

Didn’t saw all of the play but looks to me like the West Indies despite taking five will be slightly disappointed about the way they have bowled. Powell bowled absolute tripe (when's he going to be dropped?) and in comparison to say the Ahmedabad wicket the Indians were just dicked on, this one here looks far livelier.

Good to see some bounce on a Caribbean surface as well.

Hopefully the surface stays lively. It would be good to see what the Sri Lankan seamers can do.
