***Official*** Sri Lanka in the West Indies

WI look like they may salvage a good draw here.

(maybe time for the new ball?)

LOL at Gayle facing Murali and Taylor facing Vaas.

Come on, Sri Lanka!

Should be able to do it, I reckon.

Has the new ball being taken? If so, time to take it and let Vaas go at Gayle.

They just need to hang on in there. Gayle will have too keep as much of the strike as possible, though there is no need to take stupid singles, Taylor is a very competent batsmen.

Powell is getting a few streaky fours, suppose they dont really matter at this stage but its better than getting out. Gayle looks scared to face up to Vaas.

All over! Well done Sri Lanka!

Well fought West Indies, and a good captains knock by Gayle (unfortunately not enough).

Still, a deserved win by SL, and a 5 - fer by SL's little sung champion, Vaas.

Noooo, i really fought the windies would hang in there. Kudos to murali for taking the catch. I don't like Vaas but 5 wickets for a seamer on a track as dead as this is some achievement.

Seems to have been one hell of a catch, if cricinfo is anything to go by.

Rather fitting that Murali and Vaas are both involved in the finishing touch.

For someone who started cricketing life as a top order batsman, Powell sure is clueless. Looked like he had no clue how to save a match.

West Indies deserved to lose for an atrocious first innings performance. That said, the decision against Sarwan was pretty poor. It's especially harsh because he put in so much effort. But the biggest thing to take from this match is how well the batsmen played Muralitharan. This despite the fact that the groundsman prepared a Sri Lankan pitch to host Sri Lanka.

Hopefully the selectors can find a clue to try to salvage something from this series.

EDIT: Trying not to take anything away from Sri Lanka. They played very well. But the West Indies' poor performance in the first innings was not due to outstanding bowling by any means.

Agreed. You can also look to the Hinds and Benn decisions. Benn was fully all 6 ft 7 of him stretched out and he's given. HInds nowhere near the ball. Samuels with a stupid shot, what was he thinking? Saying all that though, Sri Lanka were the better team.

Good win, but not the best performance really. Herath was good in support role, but needs to start taking wickets. Murali was pretty poor, but support Vaas well. Thurshara was decent at time, but need to performance a lot better to keep his spot when the injuried guys come back.

Vaas I love you.
