MacDonald = the 2nd most over rated all rounder in FC cricket. Closing in on Butterworth as No 1 though. Mosies and Stevie Smith ftw.

I disagree. MacDonald has been fantastic in the longer game, and although I've hardly seen him in that form, his technique in the shorter game shows that he's more suited to the 4 dayers.

If anyone rates him in One Dayers, then yeah he's overrated.

Yeah, not far from the truth at all. However, optimistic the view on te N.S.W. pair.
His batting has been excellent for a while now and part of the reason why is that he's done less bowling (and injuries, of course). That most people probably don't know he averaged mid 50's with the bat last year and near 50 this year suggests, if anything, he's under-rated.

McDonald is a good 4 day all-rounder. He doesn't the extra gear to go aerial and smoke them with the bat, which makes him not quite as proficient in OD form, but he's still a good player; just not excellent in that form.

Jimmy Maher has now retired... probably makes sense with his form but now the Bulls have lost a lot of experience for next season.

ICL anyone?

Yeah wouldn't be surprised if he headed for the ICL. 33 is a pretty young age to retire, however he looks about 10 years older than he is.

Here's cheers to Jimmy!

Never rated him much as a batsman, but he passionately presided over a vintage period of Queensland cricket.

Eight Pura finals in a row - that's crazy.

Well played.

Jimmy Maher was one of my favourite players, always loved watching the guy bat especially in one day cricket. Wasn't the greatest captain, but his record speaks for itself.

Still have plenty of experience in the side for next year with Love, Watson and Bichel (hopefully no Noffke though). Will be an interesting stage of Queensland cricket.

Yeah Maher was a pretty good batsmen and i think as far as international cricket goes he underachieved massively, he could have been a handy Odi batsman for Australia, but nonetheless he did very well in the domestic circuit.
Bulls would not find it tough to deal with the lack of experience IMO, they still have Love, Bichel and Watson, but Love and Bichel aren't getting any younger and then there is always that tempataion to join the ICL and earn big bucks.

Love gets a half-century - it's been an eternity between drinks for this guy.

Good to see.

Hopefully Watson can kick on.

The Kat is also on his way to another substantial score!

Phil Hughes also on his way to a big score.

Only 19 years old.

Would really like to see (and Australia really need) a very young batsman to tear it up for a season in domestic cricket - ala Martyn, Ponting, Hayden, Slater back in the embryonic stages of their careers etc.

Great players score several FC centuries before they turn 21-23.

He is already having a wonderful season. Has scored a half century in every match and is averaging over 54. Really, really hope he goes on with it here. He has scored over 50 centuries in junior cricket.

Fantastic! Hopefully he's ready in 18 months or so when Hayden exits the stage.

Get the talented ones in while they're young - it fast tracks them.

Did no harm to the aforementioned guys or Clarkey for that matter.
