Better late than never. I think FTP has given BT a bit of a wake-up call.
What FTP match engine is dire. If anything I thought it would make BT just be happy with
their engine, as it a fair bet better. Anything that makes Jeithoon take more wickets I'm happy with.

There might finally be some good news re the match engine:

Can see that Allan didn't have any programming experience, really. If raptornex' description is semi-accurate, it's horrible coding.

Not really. It's still a bit rough around the edges (things like weather having too big an impact over the pitch condition) but it doesn't have the catalogue of absurdity that's associated with BT such as collapses, double wickets, tailenders getting 1 off 3,516 balls, pitches having no character whatsoever etc.

The only problem with an engine revamp is that it would change the relative worth of players to some extent, which changes the worth of your squad etc.

Going to have to stop the keeping net at the end of season, before it gets to a stupid level. He better pop in bowling net week.

So the fact that crappy talienders can score 50s doesn't piss you off. Or the fact the match engine doesn't show any real advantage towards better players unless they are like 3 levels higher, doesn't piss you off either. Or the fact that every 2nd match comes down to last over, regardless of how dominate a side might have been throughout the whole game.

Cosign. I'm happy that it's constantly being updated, but there's a long, long way to go before it really gets to BT's level.

Err what? I've won a large proportion of games and most of them convincingly as I should have. Tailenders haven't done any better or worse than I'd expect since the engine tweak a while back when technique was overly important.

I think most people are still judging it through BT bollocks tinted glasses.

Well part of the reason could be attributed to the relatively small gap In comparison to BT between the uber-teams and the fresh ones in FTP. When some one goes and moulds a team or a player who's attributes anre near perfection by FTP standards and has this player facing run-of-the mill undeveloped trash then these absurdities in the match engine will appear.

I hate FTP, but only because I suck at it.

Struggling against a pretty awful team in FC. I put out my B team with three decent players just in case but they're still going along fairly decently.

Playing the 3rd best side in my league. But even they are going to struggle to make it to three days against us. Should have rested a few bowlers.
