The Battle of the Commentators

Whatever it takes!!!
Sunny.

Greigy is good but at times, is not as insightful as Gavaskar tends to be. Neither are too awesome, IMO, but as an expert, I rate Sunny more than Greigy.

Tony Greig.

Gavaskar just keeps repeating himself match after match innings after innings. I dont know when he last said something insightful.

Yes one can vote for him because he will stand by India whether right or wrong.

That would be a reason not to vote for him. However, I wouldn't say that it is true. I have seen Gavaskar criticise the Indian cricket team and players a fair few times. Also, I don't think the Indian posters at large on this forum would be voting for any Indian commentator because the given commentator blindly supports India. Not a fan of such generalisations.

My vote however goes to Greig. I have listened to both a lot and like them both, just Greig a wee bit more.

I quite like Gavaskar's comm. He's got rather a dry sense of humour, which is always a nice weapon in any commentator's armoury. He's usually pretty good value on TMS when he appears.

Greigy is, well, special in his own way; he used to act as a counterbalance to 9's exceptional Australianess, but that's a role now largely performed by the somewhat more restrained (and less frequently wrong) Nicholas now.

For: Sunny.

That was fairly elitist of you SJS. You seem to plug posts like these every now and then which makes me wonder whether you've got a chip on your shoulder sometimes.

Anyway, Tony Greig for me. I've grown up listening to his commentary and will always have a soft spot for him and Lawry. I enjoy a bit of Tony every Australian summer.

And when he's commentating to Tendulkar or Lara its brilliant to listen to.

How does Nicholas wanting to have *** with Michael Clarke and Brett Lee equate to being a counterbalance to Australianess :p
