***Official*** India in England

You are worrying about tomorrow's play, had Ganguly been out before stumps last night then quite obviously England would have had the confidence to start with so i think its ridiculous that a batsmen came out at the close of play. Yes it was a brave decision from Dada but it could have definitely been a bad choice by team management.

As your avatar say, Ganguly is gun, Cant the Ganguly last two - three overs in the end... :)

What odds would you give for Ganguly getting out within his first 10 balls? India are on the attack and are in a positive position, leading by almost 60 with 7 wickets in hand, even if Ganguly was out, 60 in front with 6 in hand is still a fantastic position.

I think the mindset of not losing needs to be changed to winning for your side to become more successful and I actually applaud Ganguly for going out there.
I admire Ganguly's approach towards this, but had we lost the wicket that would have been quite a disaster. All in all he is still there, and that's what matters the most.

Cricketers have a funny mindset at times. Ganguly main role in the team is to bat. Why can't he face the last few overs in the day, just bat carefully.

Maybe Laxman shouldn't come in next because he might get out early too. See what I mean? India are infront and it was a sensible decision to put Ganguly in.

The light wasn't that bad at the close of play was it?

Not really, end of play can be very tricky a wicket there it would have all been different.
Ok i've not rested it. Do you think it would be much different then if he gets out first ball tomorrow?

Again I'll talk about the mindset. If the light was fine, why can't a batsmen face 10 deliveries and not be quite confident that he can survive them?

If Kumble comes out, gets out within 10 balls, who comes out next? Zaheer Khan??
Laxman at 8 and Dhoni at 9 would be dire.

You are missing the point here. What i am saying is that had he been out within the space of 10 balls he faced then England would have had the edge going into Day 3. Why make such a stupid decision when you can start an innings fresh at the start of next day's play?

If that's the case we can relate this to every time a night watchman is being used.

I'm not actually missing the point, I understand what your saying, I just don't agree with it.

He wouldn't be able to start the innings fresh at the start of the next day, cause he wouldn't be out on the field!!

Yes almost every single situation. There are times in a second innings where picking a defensive player who can handle the new ball well might be a better option then risking a batsmen if it's shocking light.

Not really. Towards the end of a day's play, strange things can happen for various reasons (fatigue, nervousness, bad light, etc) and you do not want to lose another specialist batsman cheaply. Why is that so difficult to understand?
