3 days abandoned at New Road now - I'm going to be interested to see how the ECB handle this one and to see what, if any, compensation is given to Kent.
It's been abandoned alltogther now - four points each. I think thats what happens when you put money before cricket - Worcs moved the 20/20 games because it would cost them money if they weren't played but they kept this match here because they would lose money if the televised pro 40 game on Friday doesn't go ahead. Funny set of priorities - they are stuck to the foot of the table and will be further behind now Surrey have won so you'd have thought they would want to play. Would you put any money on the Friday game going ahead either?

Durham should get negative points for the nature of that defeat to Surrey, utterly pathetic.
Well, I'm happy
It looks like a seriously good effort by Clarke, which we don't get to say very often, coming in at 50 for 4 and scoring the winning 70 at about 5-an-over. And what a welcome change to see an Oval wicket that isn't a complete road.

btw is it 2 up & down this year or is it still 3?

2 up and down. I think last season was when it went to 2 up and down.

I was at the game on day one and just speaking to a couple of guys the wicket was at least a 300 plus (first innings strip). With most of the wickets falling owing more to a 20/20 hangover than good bowler, really was some reckless cricket from both sides. Weather did not help batting (picture below) but Durham really should be disappointed to get rolled out so easily at The Oval, especially with the fact that most of the damage was done by a seam attack which is usually a one man band. Good result nevertheless.

Anderson's bowling gun. Just need him to hit Vaughan.
Yeah Anderson bowled well but it was a pretty poor knock from Captain Vaughan. Scratched around all innings and his dismissal was a tad embarrassing.

In regard to this game, a question to Lancashire fans, does Tom Smith usually bowl as quick as Cork? 78mph (average 75mph) isn’t that flash and it seemed as though a couple of the com guys were expecting a little bit more from Smith.

Smith's a mid 70s bowler. Nothing more. Needs a yard or two if he wants an international career.

First time ive seen Smith bowl for a long spell rather than in 1 day spells. He definitely needs to use his none bowling arm more. It really does fall away badly.

Worcestershire should get the book thrown at them for this. I had sympathy for them up until now, but it would serve them right if they don't get to play their Pro 40 game on Friday. Kent either have to be awarded a walkover victory with points, or the match has to be rescheduled - anything else would be grossly unfair. We could have lost the match and still scored more points. :@

What's the deal with the Worcester situation? I haven't been following it
Lets not go there :) Poor show by Worcestershire even tho it pains me to say it. They should have moved the game to Kidderminster like they did some of the 20/20 games.

Worcestershire decided to go ahead and host their championship game against Kent at New Road, so that they could play their Pro 40 game on Friday and receive TV revenue to help them make up some of the financial loss they sustained when New Road was flooded a couple of weeks ago.

However, New Road is a mudbath, and the entire game has been abandoned without a ball being bowled - water was even coming over the shoes of the umpires when they went out to inspect the pitch. Kent had offered Beckenham as an alternative option, and Worcestershire could also have moved the game to Kidderminster, where the pitch was suitable for play, but effectively sacrificed the championship game in order to be able to play Pro 40 on Friday. It couldn't be moved to Canterbury either, due to the Tour de France

As it stand at the moment, both teams have just been awarded 4 points, but the ECB are looking into it.
