Worcs vs Kent has been rearranged for 30th July, with Worcestershire having to play a Pro 40 match against Essex in the middle of the game. This is probably the fairest outcome, and the Worcestershire players and fans don't deserve to have the team docked any points for this incident, but in my opinion, Newton ought to stand down. This has become needlessly farcical - the pro 40 game on Friday is now being played at Derby, so they might just as well have played the game at Kidderminster and not messed everyone around. He's already admitted the blame rests with him, so surely the consequences should be on him as well?

I must admit I had a little chuckle at the report that said Rampaul would add much needed experience to the Glamorgan side.

He's a superb PROSPECT who has just been injured for the best part of 3 years, not an experienced campaigner.

LOL.

They could do with taking some of the pressure of James Harris, he maybe 17 but his carrying their four day 'pace' attack.
The really scary thing is how few injuries it would take for Harris to be in the reckoning for an England place.

Yeah...good point. England's lack of good pace bowlers is scary tbh.

I know we're going OT here, but given the unavailability of Flintoff, Lewis, Jones & Mahmood, we're looking at Anderson, Plunkett, Broad and then it gets very difficult indeed. I suppose Cork or Gough could be called up for an emergency. Onions or Bresnan maybe. Ugh!

How's about Kabir Ali?. Has had a cracking season for Worcestershire and the only test match he played in he took 5 wickets. If Hoggard, Sidebottom or Harmison broke down I wouldn't mind seeing a man in form get another crack at test cricket.

I wouldn't be confident, but he'd have to be somewhere in the mix I listed earlier.

I don't think this problem is unique to England. The standard of pace bowling is down all over the world - remember how poor Pakistan's pace bowling was last year with three good bowlers out. No one has mentioned Andy Caddick btw but maybe that would be scraping the barrel....
