Battle of the Test Matches

The Sean

Cricketer Of The Year
The original and the best - Gabba 60/61, with all due respect to Deano's knock.

And as much as a part of me would like to see the 1970 and 1971/2 RoW series included somewhere on players career stats, they're not official Tests so shouldn't be in this battle imo.

Has to be the first tied Test as that was even throughout - unlike the second one where but for Kapil Dev India would have followed on...PS - whoever is making this draw has a sense of humour. Two of the three "winning after following on" Tests drawn together...now the two tied ones....

Madras test was one of the best I hae watched and one of my early memories of watching cricket. But at the same time I have read a lot about the First Tied Test and I think it tops the second tied test easily.

Australia v West Indies, Brisbane, First Test, 1960-61

Haha crazy round, nice to see this back up btw. Madras for me.
I think I'm just incapable of maintaining battles, but was desperate to get this going again. Realised I couldn't committ, so sent the details to Hakon.

That would be me :D

Edgbaston is in an interesting draw as well, though not on this level

Gabba 1960-61.

Out of interest, has anyone seen the recent doco "Madras Tie", or any other footage of the 2nd Tied Test?

How bad yet very funny was the player behaviour on day 5? Reckon both sides would have failed to field a team for the next match if the series was held now.

I watched some sort of documentary about it, t'was very interesting but I can't remember them pointing out too much bad behaviour.

I'll go for 1960/61 simply because they were two much better sides than at Madras, and the impact of the game, from what I have read, was immense.

Yeah they didn't really point it out, but if u get a chance, have another look at it. AB had a massive row with one of the umpires, who apparently threatened to send him off, and there was a whole heap of ill-tempered stuff between batsmen and bowlers, esp. Matthews and a number of the Indian lower order players.

Woops, I misread your first post and thought you were talking about the first tied Test.
