Burgey

Calcutta 01 - both it and Headingly were pretty painful tbh, but the Aussie side in 01 was an infinitely better outfit than the one which lost in 81.

Haven't time to update this today or tomorrow...so we can either wait until Friday, or if someone else wants to run the battle from here onwards I can send them the spreadsheet and info.

Let me know.

This is like when we had Miller vs Hammond in the first round of Battle of the Legends!

It says something when Athers rearguard is barely getting a mention, and Botham's heroics were extraordinary in '81, but I'll go with Eden Gardens for the same reason as Burgey did. That Aussie team of ours then was one of the best ever, at the top of their game, in supreme form and confidence, and had put themselves in an unbeatable position.

And India still pulled it off.

You did NOT just put the two Tied Tests up against each other in Round 1 immediately after also having Kolkata vs Headingley!!

The first tied test was caused by sloppy running and the second one by good bowling. Oversimplifying, I know, but I just hate run outs, so India vs Australia it is.

Nightprowler you were not there at the Brisbane one I was for the whole five days of what I would regard as the greatest Test Match I have ever seen...and believe me there has been a few Mvote is Brisbane

Australia v West Indies at the Gabbatoir. Arguably the first Test in history that had absolutely everything. Davidson's 100 runs/10 wickets double, Sobers' first day ton (an alltime top 50 knock in itself), and a match situation that seesawed hither and thither.

Classic.
