I've just seen some footage of The Great Khali working New Japan Wrestling back in 2002...the guy could work. I mean, we're not talking HHH level but he was a lot better than he is in the WWE. Took some pretty nice bumps and had a bigger movepool he was using, and I didn't see one headbutt either. Of course, he was younger then and didn't look so heavy as he is now, but it proves to me that he's capable. It was probably on a par with Big Show in ECW (which I felt was his best in-ring work in a long time and as far as men their size go, pretty good.)

So unfortunately it's just the WWE's love for what they like their big men to do (and probably him aging and getting a lot more beefy, most likely because WWE love them some monster bodybuilders) that turned him into the Headbutting, Big Booting chokeslam thing that's become so prevalent in WWE in recent years.

Oh Jesus.

WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family. Continue...

I can't believe it, all the major websites reporting it now. How horribly sad.

RIP Chris.

Yeah just found out about this. Saddens me deeply, especially seeing as his family also died and everything. I wonder what the **** happened?

Can't believe it to be honest. Benoit was one of the best of all time, and definitely one of the best in the current bag of **** that is the WWE. Worst thing that's happened since Eddie Guerrero, and the two of them so soon together is just the worst crap.

RIP Chris, thanks for all the memories and entertainment.

anyone got any idea whats going to happen with the mcmahon death storyline now, they surely have to cancel it?

well, lets be clear, we cannot idolise a murderer, but what he was, was one of the finest wrestlers ever to compete in any federation worldwide, the nature of the recent events is shocking and disturbing, but they do not take away from what a fantastic in ring technician he was.

this highlights some major backsides in pro-wrestling:
1. the kayfabe concept - ironically, Mr. McMahon had to be ressurected for this nightmare real death of one of his major stars.
2. the psychical borderline between roleplaying and reality - created by the above-mentioned kayfabe. Too good The Undertaker can distinguish fact from role.
3. the extreme pressure to perform better, leading to the string of injuries which hit WWE lately, the string of wrestlers dying young for abuse of painkillers and drugs, and this obvious case of a mind cracking under pressure.
4. the booking - how can wrestlers actually think good on themselves when they know pretty well that the "sporting results" are fixed beforehand? and then come out with the belt and thousands of crazy fellas cheer them. this again may disbalance the mind.
5. the worrying rise of hardcore federations like CZW, which means even that is not enough for the blood-thirsty average fan.

sick circus for a sick world. i'm so sorry to say that.

I don't have foxtel but I remember reading somewhere that the tribute show would not be sent for international broadcast, so if it is on it is probably just a repeat.
Doesn't look like they are showing it as i can't seem to spot it on fox 8, a waste of a day just waiting for that.

Er, Pro Wrestling hasn't been booked as a real sport for at least 20 years. The WWE have been touting themselves as "Sports Entertainment" for ages now, and there are never any claims from any promotion or wrestler that pro wrestling is real competition.

As far as thinking good on themselves, I think most people would be pretty stoked to know that you're so good at your job that your company would elevate you to the top of the pile and have you represent it as it's champion. No one in their right mind claims that wrestling champions win their belt by beating people up. The belts in wrestling are given to the best wrestlers who do their job better than everyone else and entertain the fans better than everyone else. Anyone with half a brain can see that wrestling is an extremely physically demanding job and to do it three-four times a week, also taking into consideration the insane travel schedule the employees of the WWE have to live with, they're fully deserving of any and all cheers they get from the crowd.
