Who is Finlay?
This guy. He's been knocking around for ages now, used to wrestle back in WCW and then I think he became a trainer/road agent when WWE bought them, and came back a couple of years ago as a heel to bolster the Smackdown roster a bit. Has a very physical, European style of pro-wrestling about him, hence why his matches with Regal and Benoit in particular stand out.

I actually like Regal's stuck up posh gimmick, I think he's always done a good job with it and generally been one of the funnier gimmicks around when they give him the chance to shine on TV. I'll never forget the time when he was the face GM of Raw during the Invasion storyline and Austin came barging into the room shouting about something or another (I think he wanted a match against Tajiri) and Regal went ape and totally put Austin in his place and threatened to kick his arse himself and Austin didn't want anything to do with it, that was great.

The Regal/Benoit match was Benoits return from injury at 2006 No Mercy PPV, IIRC.

I love Regal. Such a good wrestler. Benoit v Regal wow. Missed it and will try to watch those matches. Who is Finlay?
The Belfast Bruiser, Fit Finlay is akin to Lord Steven Regal i.e ridiculously stiff and a highly combative European styled wrestler. Had some classic matches in WCW with Regal. Also Finlay is involed with the cultural phenomenal which is Blackberg/Choc Lesnar and Bathturd. Don't we love you Bobby?

8-)

It's been a while since I've contributed to this thread. Wrestlemania 23 was fantastic to watch live. Ken Kennedy is the quite possibly the greatest young star the WWE have produced in a long time. He has the 'it' factor, and will main event many Wrestlemanias in the future.

It was fantastic to see The Undertaker win, a great reward for over 15 years of dedicated and loyal service to the company. Plus there was something wrong about three meatheads carrying the WWE/World Heavyweight/ECW Championships all at the same time.

Was disappointed in a John Cena win to be honest. Is it just me or is every John Cena match a foregone conclusion? He gets beat up for about 20 minutes, then amazingly no sells any damage only to win with such great energy. It's just too boring. Hopefully we can get another Edge title reign in the future.

Frankensteiner! :-O Great crowd response also, a mark out moment.

Now if only Roidzilla starts breaking out some of these moves once more...

Scott is one of the most underrated and criminally wasted talents in wrestling history, guy had everything.

He was awesome back in the day, but ever since he beefed up he became one of the worst headline wrestlers I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely crap wrestler, the only thing he was good at doing were the various suplexes he used, everything else he did looked terrible. His time in the WWE as Big Poppa Pump was some of the worst I have ever seen.

Saying that, he will live on in my memory forever as being involved in one of the funniest things I ever saw in wrestling, when the whole Steiner/Test/Stacy Keibler angle was going on and he went to jump off the ring apron onto Test, got his foot caught in the ring apron and fell flat on his face. Just to add icing to the cake his hand clipped the back of Test's ankle, and Test then proceeded to drop to the floor holding his head writhing like he'd been hit over the head with a chair. It was epic

Edit: don't get me wrong, though. I still totally marked out over the Frankensteiner.

I kinda wanna get Backlash for some reason, although i know i should save my money for Survivor Series and Summer Slam, the Rumble and then 'Mania 24.

I thouroughly enjoyed WM 23, loved World Heavyweight championship match and MITB match. Liked BOTB match, Kane/Khali match, ECW match and US championship match. The women match failed to even be hot. WWE title match was just way too pedictable, personally i would like to see Shawn Micaels as champion at Backlash.

Meh.

Backlash isn't even on PPV here, it's on Sky Sports 1 which is cool. Watched Raw last night and the Cena/Michaels rematch was awesome, was better than the original. Had the right result too, HBK won. It went on for so long that Edge v Randy Orton was never screened.

Cena will retain or perhaps an edge win, no way would WWE make orton the champ at this point in time, and same goes for michaels. Interestingly HBK now comes out to his own entrance music rather than the DX tune, which suggests that gimmick will slowly be brushed aside, and probably for the best.

What strikes me about WWE now, is that nothing seems important anymore, the titles which were once so prestigious now seem to mean nothing, the fact that there are three major titles at stake now (as in the three world titles) just devalues everything, it was bad enough when there were just two!! Around 2000 whoever held the WWF title was the absolute top dog and would only face the elite superstars, now you see Cena facing off against people like Nitro and Lashley against Steven Richards.

Indeed the tag team divisions are also pretty crap, kendrick and london although they look good arent really major game players so to speak, dunno whats happened to cryme time....seem to have dissapeared.....

Also the wasting of talent like Shelton Benjamin and Carlito and as previously mentioned Kane just seems illogical, esspecially when guys like Chris Masters (WTF!!), Cade and Murdock get more of a push, AND THEN....there is the awesome RVD wasting away in crap ECW..... 3 brands is bad, for WWE to seem really exciting once more this split between brands should be scrapped, or at least scrap the RAW/Smackdown divide....

but as for great matches, RVD vs Jeff Hardy at Invasion was pretty damn good, as was the return match at Summerslam...

Undertaker has severely injured his bicep and is going to be out for about 6 months, so he's almost certainly going to drop the title to Batista this week. Absolutely dire, this was supposed to be 'Taker's long term title run and now we're going to get lumped with Batista again. Worst luck.

I'm hoping that Kennedy comes out right at the end of the match and uses Money in the Bank to win the title.
It's disappointing that they've decided to push Khali into the main event. Shawn Michaels and Cena were having great matches and I think they had another one in them where hopfully HBK would have got the belt.

Kennedy's already announced that he's going to cash in the MITB contract at Wrestlemania 24, though.

Rumours flying about all over the place though, Kennedy cashing it in at WM24 was never locked in steel, more likely to have been a ruse. A big idea floating around WWE at the moment is pretty much what oz_fan, Kennedy coming out and taking it off Batista Edge-style. So you might see Kennedy get a major push sometime soon. (which would be astounding, considering he's already on a major push as it is.)

Personally I'd love to see anyone but Batista win it. If 'Taker's got to lose his Title this Friday because of injury, then I'd rather Batista lost it instantly to Kennedy. Would at least provide some variety, and some relief from the dullness that is Batista.

Yeah, I'd rather see Finlay's midget be the champion than Batista again. Kane deserves another title run and it'd be awesome if he got it, but I doubt they'll give him one, especially seeing as he passed the idea up last time it was brought up. :{
