**Official** Chappell-Hadlee Series

Sir Redman

State Vice-Captain
Haha, can't believe it. We actually beat Australia by ten wickets!!

Vincent and Fleming batted really well considering the conditions. The ball was jumping all over the place in both innings but somehow we managed to play and miss rather than edging them. And when we did edge them, the fielders were in the wrong place. Loved Vincent's shot after that skier fell safe - looks like he thought it would be his day so just threw everything at it.

Bowling was for the most part flawless and the fielding was good as well (except for McMillan). Pissed off about Oram though.

why?

Totally different conditions = zero use as preparation
Are they totally different though? A lot of people are saying that the grounds in the West Indies, being new grounds and unused pitches, will quite likely offer a lot of assistance to seam bowlers.

Finding form is finding form.
To some degree but more from a batting perspective where finding the middle of the bat is important.

But the bowling conditions are potentially so different. For example, look at Tuffey, McMillan and Oram - all are a handful in conditions like today where seam up at any pace works. But put them on a road in the WI and you wont have enough kids to fetch the balls from the neighbouring streets.

Those three only took one wicket between them today.

This is bad, real bad for Australia. Symonds and Lee in doubt for much of the world cup, with batting woes and other niggling injuries, it seems dire at the moment.

to be honest, clever changes of pace (no matter what your actual pace is) will work in most conditions, esp. in the conditions in the Windies are like what they are generally during the season there, with slow and kinda low wickets where the Harris' of the world could be a real handful. Unfortunately, he is not there in the NZ side anymore but blokes like Styris, Mcmillan etc. could prove difficult to get away.

International Coach
I think we can almost count lee out of the world cup, since bowling fast is not am easy job and ankle injury really restricts a fast bowler from making a speedy comeback[this really dents aussie chances at the world cup]. Looks like stuey clark could still be on the plane to caribbean. Symo would more or less play by super 8's.

Little point in picking Jaques, Voges and White but not Watson, given Watson is going to the WC and those three aren't. Watson isn't going to get his form back by carrying drinks.
i agree, but i never believe in Watson in the first place

like i said its my team not what i think it wil be

Watson is ****
