When you get bowled out for 120, big hitters are hardly your concern though.I see NZ as a real chance (if at full strength) to challenge for the World Cup. They have a couple of problems up front in the batting, but their bowling is penetrative and varied, their middle order is solid and they have some big hitters.
One never likes to be too cricial, but England are just so dire at the moment that it's almost beyond belief. Are there no big hitters in England at the moment? Fred goes beserker, as can KP, but where are the other blokes who can belt it over the fence? Compare the Kiwi and Aussie middle-order strike power with England's. It's not that the blokes who are there right now are necessarily bad players, but they are the wrong type of player in the evolving one day game where the most successful sides no longer have one or two hitters and rest nudgers, but rather the reverse.
There must be some blokes in Blighty who can hit a long ball, surely?
All of the players you mentioned have been tried and failed in one day internationals.how can kiwi and english batting improve when blokes like sinclair, vincent, cook, owais shah, solanki are sitting in their houses and good odi player like geraint jones and liam plunkett(handy all-rounder) are not being selected.
He's been doing it for years and not needed a dentist yetwhat does this guy mal loye want to prove by going on one knee and trying to sweep the likes of bond and lee if he keeps on doing it he will the newest casualty in the ever growing england injury list.
well what would you do about astle ???When you get bowled out for 120, big hitters are hardly your concern though.
They've picked Mal Loye to address that anyway. Jury is still out obviously, but he'd better do something of note very soon, as he is 34 and all.
Thank you, thank you, ......Gee it would be nice to be wrong about England occasionally.
So what have we got left? Collingwood, who's played his one decent knock of the series, Joyce, who has shown no sign of being good enough for this level, Fred, who's due a fail, Nixon (see Joyce) and the bowlers. NZ by 90 runs, I reckon.
Its scary how right you were, but tbh when it comes to this ODI team you're almost always rightGee it would be nice to be wrong about England occasionally.

Matthew Sinclair - ODI Average @ 28, OD Average @ 30how can kiwi and english batting improve when blokes like sinclair, vincent, cook, owais shah, solanki are sitting in their houses and good odi player like geraint jones and liam plunkett(handy all-rounder) are not being selected.
Fulton has been batting quite decently actually. Nothing brilliant but he's scoring the odd run.surely these players might have failed but looking at the current picture .can vincent bat more poorly than astle, or sinclair than fulton, and jones can bat better than nixon any given day and strauss doesn't look like scoring runs at all either.
